Interpreting RF signals to triggers - Keychain Remote

Hello friends!

I do recall back in the day I was able to get the command from my keychain xc-10 remote (similar to, if not this; https://www.amazon.com/X10-Security-Keyfob-Remote-USA/dp/B01N4F75N4)

I am getting the signals transmitted via RF interface.W800USB When pressed I get the appropriate commands received from the top four buttons

Code: Select all
Received RF                     security command disarm (ID 190)

However in the devices for triggers the best I can get is for a trigger to get that a generic signal was sent. This means I can toggle a boolean state true/false when any of the four keys is pressed. Id like to set up separate triggers for not only each specific key, but potentially different keys on a separate remote as well... but let's start with the one for now.

I dont recall if I used to have an applescript to read the logs to parse the info, I don't remember how to do that anymore... it has been years since my system was nuked and the backup drive also died!

I have downloaded the SDK kit and installed all the drivers but nothing seems to get me where I need to be.

I have tried adding devices using all the remote 'types'. eg: Remote Button - SlimFire KR19A but the remote doesnt have an 'address'

I have read several variations on instruction about registering such as holding the top two button, nothing... These are circa 2014.

I am getting codes/signals received, Now what?

Question:
Is it possible to parse these appropriately?

Stuff
OS: 10.6.8
Version: Indigo 6

Cheers!

The 3rd party Switchboard plugin used to be able to catch those signals. I don't know if it still works or not but you should give it a go.

Re: Interpreting RF signals to triggers - Keychain Remote

thanks for the assist friend!

I believe thats what used to work, but it doesn't seem to add those options in the `conditions` tab of the `triggers` setup.

Ill nuke and reload from scratch and see whats what.

thanks!

Re: RF signals to triggers - Keychain Remote (Switchboard)

It turns out Switchboard will work as I remember it did. I'm going to offer my steps to success for posterity!

OK... WHEW! Noa that's over with lets get to the meat 'n' taters precious.

  • Install the drivers if not already installed.
  • Install or get your interface working. In my case the `interface type` was not the default under Indigo6 > Interfaces >X10RF
  • Switch the port if necessary and under preferences select the `Serial Port` (ie: usbserial-A4007TsS )
  • Once this is up and running I installed a fresh battery and pushed a button and got this signal in the event log (⌘8)

  • Now we need to create a device under view > devices (⌘1)
  • Name: Remote1, Type: Switchboard, Model: X10 Monitored Device, Address: 190 (using the ID provided in event log above)

  • Here is where I was trying to create a trigger, we don't!
  • Create another device, in this case I called it `Remote`

  • Name: Remote, Type: Switchboard, Model: X10 Monitored Device Group, Address: undefined
  • under edit device settings:
  • Add the device in the previous step to: Registered Devices for this Zone
  • Check the box in the third pane: Turn on Timed Device Support
  • Now we go to: Action Groups (⌘4)
  • Note at this point if there is no action Group and you push a button, you get a helpful hint (ie: Unable to find the Action Group for this Group: [Remote_LightsOff])
  • In this case the event log is telling you what you need to create and Action Group for!
  • Create a new Action Group named: Remote_LightsOff
  • Then Remote_LightsOff (the same variable name given in the event log)

  • Don't forget to reload the plugin, or restart Indigo!
  • Have a beer! (or whatever your drink of choice is)
