Powerlink 1132U stopped working on Mojave 10.14.5

After upgrading to Mojave, my PowerLink 1132U stopped working as predicted. I followed the workaround steps http://www.indigodomo.com/blog/2018/01/25/high-sierra-driver-bug-workaround/ and all was well again. However, I recently found that the device is no longer connecting to Indigo again. I believe there was a Mojave update to 10.14.5. I have re-run the workaround steps above, but no luck.

I get Failed to establish connection with interface. when I enable the interface.

The logs show
Code: Select all
   Enabling interface "INSTEON Commands 2.2.1"
Starting interface "INSTEON Commands 2.2.1" (pid 4474)
   Started interface "INSTEON Commands 2.2.1"
   Error                           usb data write: timeout
Error                           usb data write: clearing pipes
Error                           usb data write: pipe clear failed (0xE00002ED)
   Connected to SmartHome PowerLinc USB
Error                           usb data write: not open
Interface Failure               failed to establish connection with USB interface PowerLinc 1132U

It seems some permission or other has changed.

Re: Powerlink 1132U stopped working on Mojave 10.14.5

The 1132CU doesn't use the FTDI driver, so applying the driver bug patch wasn't what fixed the issue for you before.

In your picture, you have the wrong Interface type selected - you need to select the one above that one in the popup titled PowerLinc Controller 2414U/1132CU/1132U.

[MODERATOR NOTE] moved to the correct forum.

These are the only choices I have for interface. It's always been the one that's currently selected AFAIK.

Re: Powerlink 1132U stopped working on Mojave 10.14.5

Oh, sorry, you do have the right one selected.

The errors you specified:

Code: Select all
   Error                           usb data write: timeout
Error                           usb data write: clearing pipes
Error                           usb data write: pipe clear failed (0xE00002ED)

are usually an indication that there is a lot of signal noise on your powerline, which is causing the interface to get confused. Try using a long extension cord to run from the 1132CU to another room and see if that clears up the issue. If so, then you've likely got some signal noise on the same circuit that your 1132 is normally plugged in. Check out the signal troubleshooting page for information about signal noise. Unfortunately, diagnosing signal noise with X10 is extremely difficult because the protocol is one-way and doesn't give you any diagnostic information.

I ended up unplugging it, checking cables and plugging it back in after a few mins. I guess something wasn't quite seated. Working fine now.
