Hello,

My house is completely hard wired with X10. Even after 25 years, X10 is still working great. Fortunately, we live in the country, where neighbors are distant, so no ghost signal. I know, though, that it is sensitive to strange electronic noise that can travel over my electrical wires.

I want to install a new heating system that will require electronic thermostats and triac relays. I want like to now if the new system wlll need special care to prevent any electronic noise competing with the X10 signals ?

Any comments ? Where can I find information regarding this topic ? Thanks in advance.

Why don't you use an X10 FILTER before plugging in any new device?

The triac relay is 220V ... I think the filters are 110V aren't they ?

I ran into an issue with a 3d printer, causing X10 / Insteon ghost signals...

What I found out, was that a Ferrite Choke, eg https://amzn.to/2CmFV1P, was just as effective as an Insteon FilterLinc. Now that's not saying that the FilterLinc's don't do more. I'm sure they do, but I ordered 4 filterlincs, and 2/3rds of them were DOA. And the bigger problem is that there is no way to validate that the filterlinc is working properly, unless you have been able to identify a device that is causing interference. (And the Ferrite chokes as cheap as heck, since they are effectively just a magnet).

That being said, Tripplite's IsoBar surge protectors also do powerline noise filtering built-in, and they are not expensive, so that is another avenue to help prevent Ghost signals.
