Yeah, I've toyed with the idea, but I know absolutely nothing about developing widgets in Swift.
What I've done as a proxy is to create a bunch of Apple shortcuts and keep those in a folder in the dock of my iPhone. Not the same, but it's totally serviceable and works great.
