The Multitool plugin has a substitution generator, and it even works properly if you upgrade to v1.0.33.

Variables are straight-forward. However, devices are more challenging. When you right click a device, you have no idea which state the substitution is asking for. I can add it to the custom states list below, but that will only cover custom devices. So, it's partially doable, but not fully doable.
