Paid Plugin Requests

I have a few esoteric ideas for automations that are well outside my ability and which are probably not ideas that would be super helpful to many people. Are there developers here that would take payment to develop ideas that I have?

For instance. I have a cat wheel. Think of a hamster wheel but big enough for a cat. Would someone be able to program a software/Raspberry Pi solution to see if there’s motion on the wheel and to calculate the RPM/speed the wheel is moving?

Re: Paid Plugin Requests

the "piBeacon" plugin can do that.

it supports several sensor types - besides temp, humidity, distance ... also
GPIO on/off
GPIO count
touch sensors
etc.
with the count sensors should work.

The key question is what kind of sensor is in the wheel, just a switch?

if so:
in the plugin setup a device sensor count; set GPIO input high and connect the switch between ground and the GPIO.

BUT first you need to setup the RPI.

checkout the pibeacon discussions read #1 #2 .. of the announcements

Looks pretty big at first glance but there a re step by step instructions.
here a quick summary:and
1.download the SSD from THAT post.
2. put into RPI, start, best w ethernet cable
3. find RPI ip number
!!!! ssh to RPI change password !!!!, set timezone...
4. setup RPI in plugin: IP# userid, password.
5. setup count sensor in plugin

that should do it

Re: Paid Plugin Requests

We have a cat wheel too..... Excellent fun, although dominated by the Sphinx's (not sure of plural and too late to look it up, 4 of them).

I've not automated the wheel, but I have put a bike odometer on it, and its amazing how far they run - we are clocking 25 miles a week sometimes - now link that to a small genny and it could recharge a motion sensor!
