Use font awesome on touch Control pages

Support for font awesome as icons on control pages

This would make a good plug-in if possible.

I’m trying to work out whether this is actually doable now, albeit on an individual basis.

Plugins have no direct connection to control pages. Assuming that Font Awesome is some kind of HTML-based thing then that wouldn't work in Indigo Touch for iOS because it doesn't use HTML to render.

I love font awesome. Use it all the time.

A little cumbesome to create a transparent png to install in the indigo path.

I’m wondering if a plugin could use curl or requests to present all available icons in a list, then retrieve the ones the user selects as an image (with selected params such as thick/standard) and save to Images folder.

That would be so freaking great - it would really help folks standardize the look and feel of control pages and provide many more choices of icons!

@Jay, I see the Lato font is installed in /IndigoWebServer/Fonts

If we put a font in there (.ttf, .eot and .woff) or .otf, how can we use that in Control Pages?

I've restarted Indigo server and it's not showing in the list of fonts?

No - we don't build the list dynamically. It also wouldn't work in Indigo Touch for iOS because the fonts are included in the IT application bundle (aren't dynamically downloaded).

Where are you doing the "set to font size 50 and colour"?

I've got downloading and sizing the icons working perfectly in a plugin, but i've just realised that people will want to colour them which I can't see any way of doing by code at the moment.

Actually, I think I can do that completely outside of Font Awesome; I don't need to colour it before I download it.

I'll carry on playing tomorrow - as I happen to be off work all day

I have loaded the true type font into the system. In keynote I set the font to "fontAwesome". The character size and colour can be set there.

Well all the parts are working.

Just need to tidy it up now.
