Re: U.K. Locks

I nearly ordered the zwave enable keyless lock, but am I right in thinking that using a zwave keyfob to unlock would be insecure?

Looking at the protocol it seems as though 'secure commands' would be ok, but i'm not sure they are supported by the lock and / or indigo. Would this mean the lock is vulnerable to a replay attach?

Re: U.K. Locks

Indigo certainly doesn't support them right now, though I suspect that'll change in 7 as they've basically confirmed some form of lock support. As for fobs I'm not sure, I've never investigated that option. Of course once Indigo supports it we must be very careful on lock related triggers from unsecured devices.. wouldn't want someone sniffing a lwrf or something command to open the lock.

Indeed, need to be careful.

This one says 'secure communication' but not sure what that exactly means and whether indigo supports such a thing.

U.K. Locks

There is a part of the ZWave protocol that is designed for use with security products and uses encryption between the devices and the controller.

Currently Indigo supports none of it - putting controller into secure mode, including devices in secure mode, or communicating with them. :-(

Re: U.K. Locks

I'm still going for the lock but will change to the yale keyfob which i assume (big assumption?) has built in security. That way if the secure z-wave communication comes I can swap it the module later.

Re: U.K. Locks

That link doesn't work for me, Steve! Just goes to the root of the forum

@mat.. thing is about security on locks.. someone can either spend 5 mins+ trying to hack the lock, or they could just pop round the back and smash a window. :/
