Live SecuritySpy Video on my Drive Gate Control Page

Hello, all. 18 months ago I built an Indigo Control page for my motorized gate control with embedded video from my SecuritySpy installation. It worked great all those months and when I recently changed my router, I must have changed something in my setup because now the Control Page buttons still open the gate but the live video is not displaying. Could someone help me try to get the live video back in place on my Control Page?

Below is a screenshot of what the Control Page looks like in Indigo:

I've changed the name, password, and web address but the generic structure for the URL I used is:

Code: Select all
http://User_Name:password@http://my_dyndns.org:50000/live?cameraNum=10&viewMethod=0&imageSize=0&windowWidth=1412&windowHeight=736&75491

Any suggestions for restoring the live video feed from one of the SecuritySpy cameras and/or improving the security or performance of this Control Page?

Many thanks!

Live SecuritySpy Video on my Drive Gate Control Page

Since you are referencing the IP address OUTSIDE your lan, did you remember to port forward 5000 to your SS server on your new router?

I have concerns with having security spy open to the Internet, so I tend to use refreshing image URLs from indigo that reference security spy locally (e.g. 192.168.1.x:port)

Re: Live SecuritySpy Video on my Drive Gate Control Page

Thank you, mundmc. I do have port forwarding set up in my new router and SecuritySpy remote viewing is working well from the WAN. But you bring up a good point. My SecuritySpy and Indigo installations are running on an iMac on my LAN, so for the needs of this Indigo Control Page, I don't need to use my DYN.com address, I should use the iMac's static IP address on the LAN, right?

When I paste this address into a web browser, I see the live camera view I'm looking for:

Code: Select all
http://user_name:password@192.168.1.137:50000/live?cameraNum=10&viewMethod=4&windowWidth=1220&windowHeight=670

When I paste that same address into the Indigo>Control Page>Refreshing Image URL box and Save, when I see the Browser Preview or view the Control Page on my iPhone, the words and buttons of the control page come up but no video stream.

Any thoughts? Thank you.

Live SecuritySpy Video on my Drive Gate Control Page

Hmmmm, maybe authentication changed? I know I use base-64 encoding for my user/pass:

Code: Select all
http://192.168.1.x:PORT/++image?cameraNum=6&width=546&height=360page?auth=b2t<<base64jibberish>>VyOQ==

Granted, this is for refreshing snapshots (I didn’t think Indigo even allowed live embedded feeds).

Here’s the link I used for figuring out how to encode user:password https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwi5x7uU_uPeAhWtneAKHVFbBWsQzPwBegQIARAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.base64decode.org%2F&psig=AOvVaw24sehcZxx18dbvgk6S74Ew&ust=1542838158781380

It's likely not the case, but when I changed my router, my external IP address changed. And since I had my video feed on my control page hardcoded, I had to change that. But since you are using dyndns, I'm guessing it's auto-updated as your IP address changes.

Re: Live SecuritySpy Video on my Drive Gate Control Page

Thanks @mundmc. In my recollection for about 18 months I had been seeing my car drive up to the gate. I don't know if it was live video feed but it was continuously updated image feed. I'll play around with your structure and see if I have any luck.

Thanks @johnfdl. You bring up a good point. I wonder whether the video or image feed address should use the LAN IP address of the iMac or the external DYN.com WAN address?

1. Yes, you need to embed the id/pw
2. You can use your internal IP address of the camera (or Mac if it's a software feed running on the mac), assuming your Indigo and cam are on the same network

Good point on the changed IP! Was your previous router updating dyndns, or an agent on your server?

Regarding security- I don’t like having anything facing the internet if I can avoid it. None of my cameras or security spy have ports open to the WAN, hence refreshing images in Indigo.
