Garage Door Images

For some reason I’m having trouble getting my CP garage door images for open\closed to work.
I’m using the Insteon garage door module which works fine, and shows it’s status correctly as open or closed,
but can’t get my images to reflect it’s device state.

I’m using:
garage_door+.png
garage_door+open.png
garage_door+closed.png

All referred to the binary input for open/closed.

For some reason this doesn’t work. I also tried renaming to true/false and on/off instead of open/closed
but nothing works. Appreciate any ideas why this isn’t working.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Garage Door Images

What exact device are you using for the door sensor?

Re: Garage Door Images

It’s the standard Insteon garage door module. Again, it works fine and shows it status, open/closed, correctly.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Garage Door Images

Here’s the CP setup. I’ve also tried different names of the images.

Re: Garage Door Images

Try using +on as your image names instead of +open or +true, etc.. I use the same Insteon garage door system and that is how I set up my control pages and it works just fine.

In my case:

Garage_Door.png = Off/Closed/False
Garage_Door+on.png = On/Open/True

And link it to Binary Input 1 as that is the sensor.

Re: Garage Door Images

I have tried on\off, true/false but no joy.
I did finally remember about the “legacy” device setting about sending on or off
and played with that til it finally worked.
I did have to use on/off instead of open/close which maybe should be better documented.

edit: Not sure if what I’m seeing is normal but changing the device settings for legacy etc.
isn’t reflected in the device state shown to the left of the device name.
For example, if the device state shows “closed” and you change it’s setting for sending on or off
(the legacy setting), the device state will still show “closed” but apparently internally it’s actually
reporting “open” as that’s the image that loads with that setting.
Ugh...now even I’m confused.

Thanks,

Carl

Re: Garage Door Images

One thing to also consider is that if you change image names sometimes you have to restart the entire Indigo server to get them recognized. It could be your previous attempt at using +on was not working because of that.

Legacy settings or not, boolean is boolean is boolean, so on/off is true/false is on/off is open/closed etc. It's one of the reasons I wrote Device Extensions was so that I could use the same terms across control pages regardless of what they officially were.

Glad it's working!

No doubt. I did try the “clear cache” function in Touch but who knows if that alone would fix it.
I’ve been after that fix in Indigo since 2009.

Re: Garage Door Images

Mine are named:

Garage Door+.png
Garage Door+off.png
Garage Door+on.png

and they work fine with my I/O Linc...
