PNG Editor

Today my main workstation started acting odd and I am debating a full install. If I do I am going to try latest Mac OS. Its ok not my Server running Indigo but it is the computer a design all my graphics in. I always used Fireworks but my current version is 32 bit and is going to go end of life when I upgrade.

My question is what does everyone else use to edit and make PNG files.

Re: PNG Editor

I quite enjoy Pixelmator. I’m most certainly not a graphics pro, but for my mediocre skills it works well!

Computer says no.

Re: PNG Editor

I use Acorn and Art Text 3, along with Powerpoint and Keynote (used to make all of my buttons in Powerpoint!)

Ahhh, FIreworks may it RIP. I was one of the first developers on Fireworks 1.0 (I actually proposed the idea of creating it) and led the engineering team for several years on it. Too bad it was outsourced and then put out to pasture.

Re: PNG Editor

Nah.. if it’d carried on you wouldn’t have created indigo. And then we’d all be suffering with homeseer or smartthings or something!

Re: PNG Editor

If you're talking about creating backgrounds for control pages, between Pixelmator, Pages, Keynote and Preview I have everything I need.

SmartThings refugee, so happy to be on Indigo. Monterey on a base M1 Mini w/Harmony Hub, Hue, DomoPad, Dynamic URL, Device Extensions, HomeKitLink, Grafana, Plex, uniFAP, Fantastic Weather, Nanoleaf, LED Simple Effects, Bond Home, Camect.

Re: PNG Editor

I use Pixlr - free online photo editor that does everything I need. Works better in Firefox than in Safari.

Re: PNG Editor

I've started using Affinity Designer. It's featureful, reasonably priced, and has a gentle learning curve.

I especially like that you can make a number of elements on a single page, and export each layer as a separate PNG.

Re: PNG Editor

I use Photoshop myself but regardless of how you make them I highly recommend shrinking them
at a site called Tiny Png. It’s free and really speeds up control page load times.

Re: PNG Editor

I use pgquant
It’s part of most of my plugins distribs (eg pibeacon )
You could get if from there.
Reduces non complex images by up to90%. Complex ones still by ~30%
