adjust heat/cool setpoint to value of variable

So far as I can tell, variable substitution doesn't work when attempting to adjust a thermostat set point to a the value of a variable.

So I guess that means creating different triggers for every potential set point value, as a workaround.

Is there a better way to achieve this outcome (eg in a script?)?

seems odd this isn't supported in the ui!
