[ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

I was wondering anyone else has seen what is happening to me and what the fix maybe.

In one action group I have named Night I set just about every device to turn off with the exceptions of a few like Camera go Active and Lamps in the Living Room and Master Bedroom go on for 3 Minutes then back off.

A Variable is set and the action Group is triggered with the variable change. It has worked flawless for awhile now until a few weeks ago. One light ......the outside spotlights turns on when this groups executes. It is the only one and it only happened sometimes.

I have already tried removing it from the action group and adding it back.
I also made sure it is set to off and not toggle.
Now I am syncing it again.

What else could it be?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Action Group Not working as intended

When you removed the outside lights from the group did it then work properly? ..and then when you add it back the problem resumes? If so, you might have some kind of "noise" problem with that controller.

It may help to know the types of devices you're turning on and off along with the actual script youre executing.

I have found that delaying a few devices by a second or more will sometimes help.
I've discovered that including KeypadLinc's can sometimes lead to issues.
I've discovered that some insteon devices like the inLineLinc's can never be a controller....only a responder.

These are a few of the complexities which may be affecting your reliability.

The Outside Lights are on a simple GE Lightswitch. My entire house uses the same switches and it worked fine for months. It just started doing it.

After I removed it from the Action Group and added it back it again worked fine for several days but last night when I switched it to Night the lights went on.

This is an image of the action group. The problem light is Outside Spotlights back.

Re: Action Group Not working as intended

The next time it doesn't work correctly, copy/paste the Event Log window contents showing what Indigo did. If Indigo said it sent an OFF command, then that it what it told the interface to perform. If instead the module turned ON, then there is a signal problem or the module if malfunctioning.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

Matt,

From the time I made the original post until last night the action group worked as intended. Last night when I fired the night action I noticed it turned on the outside spotlights instead of sending an off request. I had already had my main computer off and couldn't screen shot the log file. I did however screen shot it on the mobile app which shows an on request.

I am not convinced it is the module because I also noticed last night it isn't limited to that module. It also turned on the garage lights and sent an open request to the garage door (linear Garage Door Opener) via Veralite Bridge App.

My next step is going to be to completely destroy the action group and build it again.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

Indigo stores 30 days of log files, so if you can open the file from last night and copy/paste the lines for the time chunk of when it occurred then we can better help troubleshoot the problem.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

Matt,

I may have figured part out. I have two Triggers setup to the garage door. "Garage Door Open" which just updates a variable and the other "Garage Door Lights" Which turns on the Garage Lights if it is dark out. That one also turns on the Outside Spotlights back since thats how I let my dog out. It has a delayed off after 5 minutes. It seems those two triggers are firing when I trigger Action Group Night.

Both Garage Triggers Look for State Change to become on so they shouldn't trigger as I am sending an Off trigger in Action Group Night. Any thoughts aside from taking Garage Door out of the Action Group. I been known to leave it open all night in the summer months. :-)

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

Can you post screen shots of the Triggers, Conditions, and Actions panels for both "Garage Door Open" and "Garage Door Lights"? We need to see all the details to help troubleshoot what is occurring.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

Since your "Garage Door Open" is coming from Vera, can you check the Vera logs for the same time to see what it shows? I think the Vera Bridge plugin is getting a message from the Vera that the state for that device has become ON, which is what starts the triggers in Indigo.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

I logged into vera but Logging wasn't turned on until I just did it now. I am only able to see todays log files. I guess I will wait and see when and if it does it again.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

I have an action group question. Suppose I have an action group which calls several other action groups. Is there a way to put a pause before or after an action group?

Re: [ANSWERED]: Action Group Not working as intended

You can use the delay feature but it may not be exactly what you are wanting, it is probably more reliable to just do a quick Python script with delays between the execute statements - depending on how much you want to delay.
