Is On the same as 100%... is 1-100% considered On?

Hi everyone,

If I'm writing a program that updates a KPL button to be on or off based on the status of another light, should I be writing it to say the condition is that the light has a brightness of greater than 0 to account for all levels? Or just put that the light is on? Having issues with my KPLs staying in sync sometimes and I'm wondering if it's because I put "Device is On" or "Off" simply because I never dim them. But a few times I've noticed the KPL on when the light is off etc, so wondering if that might be why. I know on the ISY they were both different, On meant 100% only. Just wanted to check thanks!

Re: Is On the same as 100% only, or is 1-100% considered On?

In playing with the sample DB, a switchlink 2-way dimmer doesn't seem to support all dimming levels. When I enter 1, it becomes 0 (off). When I enter 2, it becomes 3 (on). 4 becomes 3, and 5 becomes 6.

For my real-life Z-Wave dimmers (I don't have Insteon yet), I can set a value of 1 which is on, and 0 which is the only true off.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Except for a few X10 exceptions, if a device's brightness is greater than 0 then it's on state is ON.

I can't imagine why anyone would consider a device to be OFF if the brightness was, say 99%... ;)

Re: [ANSWERED]Is On the same as 100%... is 1-100% considered

Thanks guys, I definitely didn't consider the Off one as being valid since that wouldn't make sense, it was more I just by default was like "If device is On" and would use that without even looking further to the Brightness Is, and then it hit me that when writing ISY programs I'd never say device is on or off vs > 0% unless it was a device that only did on and off of course. Thanks!
