Trigger not working - Water leak sensors

Since I’ve installed Indigo 2022 my email triggers have not been working. I previously used a Gmail password but switched to iCloud after Jay mentioned it would work better. But still no luck.

SMTP Host name: smtp.mail.me.com
Encryption: Start TLS
Server Port: XXX

Or is there a better way to get notified when devices states are changed like with water sensors? I used to get an email saying a device was triggered just like I set it up.

How can i confirm that email is working correctly with indigo? All I get now is that the server status is Failure. Thanks.

David

Reload the Email+ plugin and then watch for any errors that show up in the Event Log window.

Well, that's your answer. You probably need to generate a new app-specific password for logging into the iCloud mail account.

For emergency type things like water leaks I don't find email to be immediate enough. I use the iMessage plugin to text me from an indigo specific iCloud account. I favorite the iCloud account in iMessage so messages always come through, even if I'm on DND.

Thanks but it’s still not working.

The buddy SMS trigger looks rather complicated.

Back to my original question…what are others using to get notified for water leaks and other notifications?

If gmail is a little wonky, is there another email platform I could use. My iCloud email might be creating an issue because its an alias to my real Apple ID. So maybe should try another option.

Pushover to get iOS notifications. If it's something I really want to get my attention I will also use the notification feature of my Inovelli switches.

I use actual SMS messages with Twilio. But it's not free, and it's a pain in the butt to set up now because of all the anti-SMS-SPAM requirements.

Email+ works fine for most users. iCloud definitely works, but you have to set it up correctly (with an app-specific password).

Re: Trigger not working - Water leak sensors

Slightly late to the party here, but I use the email ==> SMS service from my mobile provider. I send email notifications from the Email+ plugin to my_mobile_number@vtext.com, and have the sender account added to VIP so it comes through 24x7.

The most common text I get is that someone left the closet light on.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.
