Trigger Action at specific time

Is there a standard direct way to make a Trigger action at a specific clock time?
(not a delayed action)

Or only by detour to create a separate extra Schedule which must be turned on and off separately?

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

I think creating a schedule to fire the action is your best bet. Of course, you can create a new action tied directly to the schedule, but I presume you mean to fire an action that you've already created.

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

Thanks for the suggestion Dave.

The challenge is that a Scheduled action always will be fired .

So, the only way is to switch this Schedule on (and later off again) when the Trigger fires.

Future request: Trigger action at specific time
a more direct and simple way I guess :D

Based on your comment, it sounds like there isn't a conditional that will work in this instance? Something to the effect of, "only when variable X is True" or something like that?

This is exactly what a Schedule is, so I guess I'm not fully understanding exactly what you're trying to do. Please fully describe the scenario so we can understand your request.

That's right Dave, you are a smart man

The case is: Alarm system gives a (one way) X10 signal when a window has been opened.
(gives not an X10 signal when window is closed again).

When for example this window is opened by somebody else at 6.00 am, we want a message at 7.45 hour (breakfast trough airfoil speakers) that the window was opened (otherwise alarm system can not be armed).

So, we thought when a Trigger catches this X10 signal (that works) , the simple action of this trigger will be scheduled at 7.45 am.

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

So that sounds pretty simple. X10 signal sets a variable. Scheduled actions run only if variable is set, says message, clears variable.

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

Fortunately there is indeed always a solution with Indigo; one way or the other. :D

But the original question was:
Is there a standard direct way to make a Trigger action at a specific clock time?

Not.

No problem!

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

Your question wasn't specific enough, so the answer to the question is "yes", that's exactly what a schedule is for...

Your question, phrased correctly: "Can a trigger directly schedule an action to run at a later specific time". The answer is no, though a trivial solution exists.

Specificity is always the best way to ask questions and receive firm answers.

Re: Trigger Action at specific time

With all those years of experience I thought that you would understood my question described in detail.
(formulated with the already standard Indigo schedule solution)

Next time your customer.. will explain it more clearly special for you. :D
