GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

Hi. Indigo 2021.1 release notes state: ""Added support for GoControl/LinearLinc Garage Door Controller (GD00Z-8)."

I have successfully paired this device (with encryption, as it requires).

Indigo can open/close the door via the controller. However, the status (open/close state) does not update based on the associated sensor that comes with the GD00Z-8. The status will only update with a manual status refresh.

Has anyone successfully used this device, or can otherwise offer guidance?

Thank you.

Re: GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

I have observed this exact behavior. The status does not update after an open or close unless initiated manually.

Re: GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

I have an action that runs every minute to update the status. It works, however the instruction and response is written to the Indigo log even though I have checked the box to suppress.

Matt, Jay -- any thoughts. I've been scouring the Internet but cannot find any leads.

Can you either turn on Zwave debug or put a Zwave Watcher (plugin) on it to see if/what it has to say about anything?

Thanks. I have both debugging and the plugin for the device turned on. Output is below. Note I do not see any broadcasts come in after the garage door is opened.

Code: Select all
This is a command to open the garage:

Re: GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

Hmmm

What is interesting is that the manual says it uses 'scene' command classes, but it's obviously responding to and sending 'barrier' commands.

I presume there's an association for Group 1 to Node 1 in the Interfaces > Zwave > Manage Associations?

I checked the associations and I see just that - controlling device 14, controlling group 1, responding device 1

Re: GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

I think I figured the issue out. I have an original Aeotec zstick 5. It does not support S2 security, only S0 from what I am reading. The GD00Z-8 will not send unsolicited notifications unless S2 is enabled.

I am going to buy a new zstick. I guess the question is which one to get.

I'll let Matt elaborate, but Indigo doesn't support S2, so replacing your stick won't help. Matt's using one of these I believe so perhaps he can shed some more light.

Re: GD00Z-8 Garage Door Controller

Unfortunately if it doesn't send unsolicited updates without S2 then Indigo isn't going to receive them. Adding S2 support is on our request list, but it is a massive feature so won't be happening in the short term. The one I have is much older (GD00Z-4) and doesn't have the S2 requirement, apparently.
