Any recommendations on what Appliance module to purchase

I was looking through the dozens of supported indigodomo devices and was hoping I could get some practical advice.

My requirements are:

-Controls of a Whole House fan, single speed
-Module could be a plug (Attic temps exceed 120) or at the switch (Hall).
-115v, US
-Would like Alexa control but not a must

Use: If (upstairs temp) is > outside temp by (x degrees) then enable

I was looking at the Insteon product (Insteon smart on/off Plug-in-module) as it has Alexa control but limited to 122 degrees.

Thanks in advance.

Are you running a z wave system or other?

I'd replace the wall switch with either a Insteon on/off switch OR a z-wave switch. Decision would be based on what I had in my spare inventory AND if though I needed a "repeater" device in my Insteon or Z-wave network. Currently leaning more towards z-wave because of a more robust device communication scheme.

I am all Z Wave.

I have recently bought a couple of Zooz Zen25. Good price for two outlets that can be controlled separately (USB port is not controlled just monitored). IIRC it’s only good for 10 amps. Nice form factor that does not block the other outlet.

I have a large number of the Monoprice plugs and the Zooz ZEN06 which appear to be the same product. They are large and if installed in the top half of a wall receptacle they cover the bottom half. You can’t use two at one wall receptacle due to size. IIRC it will handle a 15 amp load.

I have a Zooz ZEN20 power strip. So far it’s a good unit. Though the plugins aren’t far enough apart to handle power adapters well.

I have one ZLINK Plug-in Appliance Module ZL-PA-100. It works fine. Kind of ugly and boxy looking though. It will take a 15A resistive load.

I have one of the NEO Z-Wave Plus Smart Mini Power Plugs in use. After reading about some that have combusted I was scared away from them. Great feature is their small size. IIRC they may not act as a range extender though. Bad feature is they might ignite. The one I am using has nothing plugged into it. I am using it as an indicator light basically. I wish I could trust them since their form factor is awesome.

I have one of the Zooz ZEN15 power switches. Very different form factor. Meant for heavy duty loads. Works fine.

I have a couple of the Aeotec Smart Switch 6. Great form factor. Good brand. Well built solid units. Very pricey. I use them where space won’t allow bigger units. Did I mention pricey lol?

I have a couple of the a Leviton units. They reposition the plugin by 90 degrees.

I have a few wall switches in use as well. Both Honeywell and GE. They work fine. Though I have had issues when the electrical wall box is metal (Alberta) as opposed to plastic (Arizona). The signal strength can be an issue in metal boxes.

Never use a plug module on an outlet controlled by a switch. That leads to madness....

Dual, thanks. I'll look into the Leviton device. Need to get back up in the attic to look at the peak for the motor. The other units appeared to be more for lights.
Jalves, agree with the recommendation for z-wave.
