Why Hue?

Other than the colors is there an advantage to using Hue lights?

As opposed to what? There are lots of alternatives to Hue lights, even some with colors. I have some Hue bulbs and some Lifx bulbs... the Hue's always seem to connect to their hub, but I can't say the same for the Lifx. If you just need on/off and don't need dimming and colors, there are lots of options.
