Phillips - Hue Alexa Issues?

So I've been running the phillips hue bridge plugin to allow alexa to control things and suddenly it has stopped working? I've tried deleting all devices from Alexa, starting and stopping the plug-in, nothing seems to work now. Anyone else having issues?

In summary, the issue is caused by an Amazon firmware update to the Echo/Echo Dot devices.

The work-around solution that seems to work for most users is to get a Gen 1 Echo (not Plus) or Gen 1 Echo Dot (with rotating volume ring on the top - not the one with 4 buttons).

There isn't going to be quick fix to this issue - hence the suggested work-around above.

I'm confused because all my echo dots are first generation.
