Hi all,

at the moment I am using the Fibaro Window/Door sensor; I am basically satisfied with them, but when replacing battery is always a pain.
Is there any other door/window sensor with works with Z-WAVE Aeotec 2 (not yet migrated to Gen5, and also not planned at the moment).

Hi Marco,
The latest one I have tried for external doors is this: Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Door/Window Sensor

It is Gen 5 but is backward compatible AFAIK. I am using it in a Gen5 network.

The plus points for me are:

• It runs on two standard AAA batteries
• It is easily detached from its base to replace the batteries and also to access the Include/Exclude/Keep awake button
• Wake up time is up to 10 minutes - which makes syncing with Indigo easy.

I have previously tried Fibaro and Popp door sensors - I like this one the best. It is the best user experience for including/excluding and syning of the ones I have tried.

For internal wooden doors, I use this: Z-Wave Plus Aeotec Recessed Door Sensor
These have been trouble free.

I like these ones although battery life is about 9 months in our house, both internal and external doors, and no issue with weathering.

I use Sensative Strips.

Got about 10 in now, including kitchen cupboards to make sure Mum remembers her tablets!

Voice alerts keep pestering her until she goes in the relevant cupboard.

Damn why didn't I think of that - i've got three strips sitting here doing nothing - fridge and two freezers becoming automated - that will help me catch the kids eating my YUK vegi treats!

Sensative strips are interesting.
Will they work with USB Stick S2?

Yes, I’m on S2 at moment.

Gen5 in drawer for a rainy day when I’m bored!

Just a word of warning on these Sensative strips - I have had mixed results.

The batteries are meant to last 10 years - I have had a couple of them go down to 5% within 12 months or less; Wake-up set to once a day and on windows that aren't opened very often. Of course, your mileage may vary but I would keep a close eye on the battery level.

Yuk is what the kids call them, various brands of veggie snacks. Kids deny eating them, but I'm gonna catch them

Agh, but now I can catch them - could go overboard and put a web cam inside the fridge, but not sure the better half would appreciate a cat5 size hole in the back!

Well, I am not really satisfied; after a few trial open/close battery is already at 25% and on my windows they do not work perfectly as they have frame done with aluminium.
