Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Hi All,

Bought one of these:
https://www.vesternet.com/z-wave-steine ... floodlight

I've added it to Indigo and I'm seeing 3 devices
Relay Switch for the main LED
Multilevel Sensor - Relay Power Switch which shows me nothing.
Notification Sensor - Relay Power Switch which shows me an on / off state, however this doesn't trigger when I walk past.

Any ideas on what the Multilevel sensor is (I think it's the light level sensor?) and how to get the Notification / motion sensor to work?

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

That device will likely need a custom definition to work fully with Indigo's built-in stuff. It's possible that one of the Z-Wave plugins may be able to help in the meantime. Be sure to submit the device information so we can get it added to the list of device support requests.

By clicking the Submit Device Information button in the device's config dialog.

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Done, thanks!

Have had to buy another one of these as they're a really great LED flood regardless of Z-wave, and we've had a near break in recently. So anything you could do to support to get the motion sensor working would be awesome :)

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Pete,

I think the motion sensor will work with Zwave Scene Controller plugin.

I recently updated it to support binary on/off commands from devices that are appearing on the market in this way.

I think I posted a beta link in the subforum for it.

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Hi Pete.

Just read the zwave doc for this device. Boy is it complex (and optionally multi-channel as well).

Can you set an association for groups 2, 3 and 4 to Node 1? Group 2 receives On/Off commands when the light is turned on due to motion, 3 is motion itself, group 4 is lux level.

With group 2 set, you should be able to use my plugin to receive the On/Off commands and trigger on them, until Matt/Jay release a definition - which won't be quick given how complex it is.

(M/J, at a basic level, it sends 0x71 notify (alarm v3+) commands of type 07 (Home security) and value 08 (motion) or 00 (no motion) - which is easy enough to trap, but it sends from different endpoints depending on state of params)

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Thanks Peter, first time using your plugin and doing any manual associations.
Mind explaining how exactly I do the associations to Node 1?

Controlling Device: Select the main Flood Light here I assume.
Controlling Group: Group 1, 2, 3 & 4 ?
Responding Devices: Group 1 shows 001 - Indigo Z-Wave Interface, all others are blank.
Device to Add: Lists the rest of my devices.

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Correct.

Add Node 1 to whichever groups I said.

Should be listed in the 4th box.

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Sorted - sorry to be dumb, what's the next step?
When I add a trigger using the Z-Wave Scene Controller it starts asking about 1 button press, 2 button presses etc.. ?

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

If the plugin is in Debug mode, which I think I default it to for this very reason, when you get a motion on/off from the light it should show you the relevant button commands in the log, for you to use in your trigger.

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

Thanks Peter - just getting around to doing this today.
So I've associated the groups, and I go and walk past the light and I see nothing in the Indigo log. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: Steinel Z-Wave Lights

You’re on .34 and turned on plugin debug (plugins > Zwave Scene Controller > config)?
