Z-Wave Camera

I'm new to Indigo (and home automation in general) and wondering what z-wave cameras people are using? I'm looking for an indoor camera that I can trigger from a motion/door sensor. I have a Nest cam outside, but would rather go a different route. I've seen Piper and Vera Controls VISTACAM-700. Are there any other options?

Thanks

Re: Z-Wave Camera

I don't know of any Z-Wave cameras. The Vistacam from Vera is a WiFi camera.

There are a couple of different solutions for using WiFi cameras with Indigo:

  1. If you only need to view an image (not video) from a camera and the camera supports a refreshing image URL (URL points to an image that gets refreshed every so often) then you can just use a Refreshing Image URL Control Page element.
  2. For more control beyond that, there's a 3rd party Security Camera plugin
  3. For the maximum control, use the 3rd party Cynical SecuritySpy plugin along with the SecuritySpy software to do motion events, control camera pan/zoom, etc.

Re: Z-Wave Camera

I guess I thought most cameras were WiFi cameras. Those two are the only ones I've found that say they work with Z-Wave.

Thanks for the information. I'll look into those solutions.

Re: Z-Wave Camera

They don't work directly with Z-Wave - rather they work with hubs that also support Z-Wave (like the Vera).
