Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Spy

I have recently moved my server to a machine. Everything seems to be working except I can not get the security spy plugin to install. I have ensure that indigo has full disk access, but I get this error:

See if you can manually uninstall any previous versions before trying to install again.

Jay, that hotlink doesn't work. How do I do this? Been a while since I've dug into this since everything has been working smoothly!

Re: Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Sp

hey Jay,

that plugin was not previously installed on this machine. This is a clean install on a new machine, the only thing I kept was the database file when I switched machines so I wouldn't lose all of my settings. Everything else seems to be working as expected. I did delete all the files in the disabled folder but am getting the same error. Any other troubleshooting suggestions?

Re: Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Sp

That error means Indigo does not have the permissions to move or delete files inside of one of its folders (like Plugins, Logs, etc.). This often happens when people switch Macs and copy files over (especially with migration assistant). It can also happen if you have multiple macOS users on your Mac and install Indigo under a different user than the Indigo Server is starting.

Regardless of how it got into this state, I'd suggest a clean re-install of Indigo by uninstalling everything.. Make a backup of the files you want (Database, Settings/Prefs) to keep and make sure they have the file ownerships of the same macOS user under which you install Indigo.

ok, I followed the instructions. Deleted the application, all the library files, re-downloaded the software and have the same error. Can you clarify this:
"make sure they have the file ownerships of the same macOS user under which you install Indigo."

I am opening the database file that I had used on my old machine to retain all the settings. Would it be helpful to see the database file? I attempted to attach it to the post but it won't allow it

Did you delete this folder?

/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 2023.2/

Be sure and make a backup copy first.

I believe I did... I can try it all again. Backup that folder or my database file?

Might as well backup everything, but after deleting the folder and running the installer just copy in the database file alone back in for now.

ok, I've done all that... same issue. 100% confident I deleted everything.

One thing to mention is that I'm saving my database file in dropbox. Never had an issue with it before, but wondering if that is causing any issues?

Re: Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Sp

Possibly. Try moving a copy back into the normal Databases folder (in the Indigo folder), then double-click the copy to have Indigo switch to it and see if the problem persists.

Also definitely try downloading a new version of that plugin and when installing it do so from a copy on your hard drive (not the Dropbox folder).

Re: Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Sp

now I've tried all that. All installers were fresh downloads. I've now deleted and installed multiple times. Clearing all library files as instructed. I moved the database file, ensured indigo has full disk access. I'm at a loss.

Re: Error when attempting to install the Cynical Security Sp

And you're installing and running from the same macOS user account and that account has admin permissions?

Also, what macOS version are you using?

yes, there is only one Mac user account on this machine and it is the admin account that I've installed under. OS is Sonoma 14.3.1
