Weird 2744D light switch response on replaced Indigo system

Hi folks,

We recently had to blow away the config of our working Indigo 6.x system. On the same MacMini, we installed a fresh Big Sur system and installed Indigo 2021.2 on it, along with a new database.

We had to register the powerlinc module to the new 2021 db, which was successful, and started to re-introduce our eight 2744D light switches. The registration of the 2744D modules were all successful. Communication to/from the modules and the powerlink/Indigo is clean and quick.

Commands and status/acknowledgements to the various modules are all successful, according not only on the event log, but on the switch status LEDs. Everything looks great BUT...the actual physical manifestation of the commands from Indigo are not applied!!! Meaning, the lights don't actual turn off/on/dim via Indigo. However, if I adjust/turn off/on the lights via the physical toggle on the switch, the lights adjust and actually send the status to Indigo. This result can be duplicated on all eight 2744D switches.

Any ideas on what's going on here?

Thanks in advance!

What does the Event Log window show both when you control the switches physically (working case) and when you control them via Indigo's UI (failure case)?

This sounds like either a malfunctioning PowerLinc, or power line (or maybe RF) noise that is causing the PowerLinc to not want to send the command. You can test this theory by plugging the PowerLinc into different outlets on different circuits (use an extension cord) to see if it then starts working.

Hi Mark!

Thank you Mark for the reply.

In EVERY case, the Event Log window shows all activity correctly...both Indigo initiated and via the toggle paddle/switch....so the PowerLinc is working correctly.

The Indigo initiated control (light dim/on/off) appear in the Event Log correctly but the lights don't actually perform the action! AND, when Indigo initiates a off/dim/on command, in addition to the correct Event log logging/confirmation, the light switch's status LEDs confirm to the commands it is receiving from Indigo but the lights don't change at all!

It is a bizarre thing.

If the LED on the switch is changing but the light isn't, then I think you are sending the command to a secondary switch that isn't directly connected to the load. If there are links between a switch (main with load and secondary without a load), then sending commands to the secondary won't turn on the main switch even though there is a link. That is, the links are only used when you physically press the button on the switch itself.

Fascinating...so, your logic is that there are "downstream" light switches that are being controlled by "upstream" switches, which Indigo is communicating/controlling. If so, then I'll have to go hunting for the downstream switches!!

I'll keep you posted of any progress.

Thanks!

Ok Matt...you were right!!!! We managed to find another panel with ALL the other Insteon light switches. When then programmed those switches with Indigo and everything is working great!!

Thanks for the help!! :D
