Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

I recently moved my Indigo 7.5 setup over to a new 2018 MacMini. I wanted to run everything through its paces on the new mini before upgrading to the latest version of Indigo and dealing with all of the Alexa modifications etc.

All seems to be working fine, except the local server so I cannot make connections via Indigo Touch on my iPhone. All of the right boxes seemed to be checked in the Start Local Server window and the Firewall is turned off on the Mini. The mini is connected to my Verizon router via an ethernet switch. Wondering where I should start to trouble shoot?

Re: Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

Unplug your home router and DSL/cable modem, then wait 10 minutes (for everything to come back online) and stop/restart the Indigo Server.

Try then connecting via Indigo Touch. Does it show your Indigo Server on the settings screen?

If it doesn't work, then open the Event Log window and copy/paste its contents into a reply for us.

Re: Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

Followed your directions, but still not working. On the phone under the settings screen, I get the could not connect to server error pop up.
Here is what my event log looks like after attempting to re-enter my log in info and start the server once more: Note: I've removed my user name on the reflector login line below. String at the end tells me reflector connection is not working, but have no idea what to do next.

Re: Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

The Indigo Web server is crashing immediately after it launches:

Code: Select all
WebServer client connected
WebServer started on port 8176 -- digest authentication enabled
WebServer disconnecting from Indigo server
WebServer client disconnected

Did you re-run the Indigo installer on your 2018 Mac Mini (versus just copying over the files)? If not, download and re-run the 7.5 installer. You might also want to try the most recent version of Indigo. While 7.5 should work under 10.16 we have made significant improvements because of macOS changes since then.

Re: Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

Here is what I did. I suppose I should have asked for clarification, as these directions were not 100% clear to me:

I followed the directions under the support site for Moving an Indigo Installation to another Mac. So, I first deactivated the license on my iMac and then copied this folder on my iMac (/Library/Application Support/Perceptive Automation/Indigo 7.5/) over to my mini. Note*, I moved this folder onto the desktop of my Mini, as I had not run the 7.5 installer on the Mini yet. I then ran the 7.5 installer on the Mini. I opened Indigo and as expected all of my custom settings etc. were missing in action since it was like a clean install. I then quit Indigo and replaced the Indigo 7.5 folder in the Library with my old folder from my iMac that was sitting on the Mini desktop. I started Indigo once more, and all of my settings etc. showed up so I figured I was up and running.

If you go back to these directions, I hope you can see where my confusion lies as they are not written very clearly. My installation on the Mini did not "open the correct folder" I.e., the "Perceptive Automation" folder, so I had no chance to copy anything over as it is described in the online support. This left me guessing on how to get my previous customizations into the install and I guess I messed things up.

I took your advice and re-ran the 7.5 installer, but this has not helped. I was hoping to make sure 7.5 was working correctly all around before I made the jump to the latest version, as I have limited time to deal with the Alexa issues, but hope to attack that next weekend and hope this server issue will sort itself out with the next install.

Re: Can't get local server running correctly after migrating

We'll make it more clear, but those steps are for finding the Perceptive Automation folder on your original Mac. That folder of course won't exist on the new Mac, but you'll copy it over to the same location (which is the /Library/Application Support/ folder). After that you run the installer and it installs all the essential files but will leave your database and settings files untouched so they are used on first launch.

I'd suggest you go ahead and try using the latest version of Indigo. You can always stop that version (via the Indigo->Stop Server menu item, then Indigo->Quit menu item) and relaunch Indigo 7.5.
