As a temporary setup I need to transfer my licence to another Mac . What’s the min spec for the Mac ? . Just want to buy a cheap 2nd hand one to use for about a year on my new build house .

Probably a Mac mini 2012 with High Sierra and at least 4GB ram.

hmmm...a MacBook. I hope you have more success than me working around the MacBook-specific system sleep issues that forced me off an otherwise perfectly adequate MacBook Air.

I'm having sleep issues with my mac mini. The only thing that seems to work is amphetamine. The problem is that once in a while it crashes and then soon after mac mini sleeps again.

I've had no trouble suppressing sleep on the replacement mini (but do use amphetamine). however as the dev of amphetamine calls out, there are circumstances where amphetamine & its equivalents can't stop a MacBook sleeping (while in clamshell mode).
