Indigo Domotics

I keep getting interface errors with the USB 2413U modem. I haven't changed much. I've tried power cycling, different cables, and moving Indigo to another computer. No dice.

Any ideas?

Are you sure you have the right serial port selected?

The only serial port available is usbserial-AL92YCV8.

Are you running macOS High Sierra or Mojave? If so, you may be running into this Apple bug.

I think that's it. the problem is the server is headless, no keyboard, and lives in a closet. I use Remote Desktop to access it. Is there a script or something I can run to do the fix?

Unfortunately, no. Part of the problem is Apple's SIP, which keeps you from doing some of the necessary bits unless you reboot into recovery mode. So a script wouldn't work.

Note: you can install the FTDI driver and see if that fixes the problem. The only issue if that's all you do is that you'll have to unplug/replug the PowerLinc whenever you reboot the Mac (because of the second bug which keeps the right driver from loading at boot time).

So, that means that it's not the driver bug issue at all. That particular failure scenario can also happen in some other scenarios: 1) when some other misbehaving USB device is plugged in (just unplug all other USB devices to see if that helps) 2) the PowerLinc is failing, and 3) when there is a lot of signal noise and the PowerLinc gets confused.

The latter is the most likely so you'll want to work through the signal troubleshooting page to see if you can get to the bottom of it. First try running a long outdoor extension cord from your PowerLinc to an outlet in another room. If you stop seeing the issue then it's likely that the circuit the PowerLinc is plugged into has some significant noise.
