[ANSWERD}: One device not working after software upgrade

I migrated to a new Mac and when I migrated I got the notice that there was a new version of Indigo. So I updated the software.

Now experience should have warned me that changing two things at once is never a good idea.

I have a switch device (Aeon Labs Aeotec SC19103, Z-Wave) that is not working. The device list shows a red dot with a state of "no ack". I have tried to re-define and re-sync to no avail. It seems to connect to the Z-stick, but the device does not respond at all to Indigo. I fear it may have failed. I have had to replace two other of these devices in the last couple years.

Note that I do have another of these devices that is working.

I am running Indigo 6.0.13. Both my old and new Macs are running OSX 10.9.4.

Here is a sample event log:

Re: One device not working after software upgrade and new Ma

Sounds like it might have failed, although it is possible it is just in a bad state or for some reason the signal path or route from the Z-Stick is no longer able to reach it. The error is showing no response from the module.

Have you tried excluding it from the Z-Stick then re-including it, then Define and Syncing it again in Indigo? Note after re-including it, it will have a different node ID. So when you define/sync it you should select the most recently added node ID (most likely the highest number).

Matt,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been away so haven't been able to test your idea until today.

Unfortunately, deleting and re-including the z-wave device did not work, even after multiple attempts. It does not get included. The device has clearly failed.

I have bought 4 of these since July 2013, and 3 of them have failed. At $45 each I am reluctant to buy yet another.

If you get a notice of my post here, do you have any recommendations for a reliable z-wave wall switch device (to control outside lights)?

Best regards,
Gary

That's terrible. I have been planning to replace my GE wall switches with these (switch version) over time. the concept of these micro switches is nice. but your failure rate is bad.

Yep. Terrible is an understatement. A 75% failure rate in the course of 1 year.

When they work, they are wonderful. When they don't, it's enough to tear your hair out.
