Insteon IRLinc Receiver 2411R...ABOUT TIME!

Hi all,

Just got an email today about this.

Will Indigo support this in its current version?

Thanks.

Cheers, John.

The current public beta of 3.0 supports it. You cannot use Indigo to remotely manage the internal links in it, but you can create Trigger Actions for it.

Nice! I may just have to pre-order one.

I have played with Indigo quite a bit but have never bought it holding out for this particular piece of equipment. Finally! I will now take my IR543 and run it over with my truck. haha.

this should work with Harmony remotes shouldn't it? The smarthome docs keep talking about programming NEC compatible codes...

Yes, it'll work with the Harmony. You'll need to select a device type that is NEC compatible. I'm sure there are a bunch, but I know that choosing the Xantech Gatekeeper IR will work.

Does this thing require you to program separate buttons for tasks? I'd really like if it recognized when I push the pause button for my DVD and take appropriate action.

Is there a device out there that does the reverse? Meaning can Indigo CREATE IR commands? I'd like to be able to turn on and off my TV using Indigo.

You'll create 1 Trigger Action per remote button to which you want Indigo to respond. Unfortunately, the linking and programming process with the IR-Linc itself is manual at this point. Indigo doesn't yet support remotely programming links into it.

For this most folks are using the IRTrans USB (or ethernet) hardware and the iRed software. Another option is Global Cache's GC-100, although there isn't good Mac support for it yet.

Very cool. I did a search for it, but didn't find any sources in the US to buy it. Any idea where to get it?

I don't believe I've seen any US distributors for it, but they'll ship it to you overseas.

How will

Matt,

Will the set up and use of the IRLinc be something like the EZX10RF?

Thanks,
TDF

Re: How will

Yes. Once the Device is defined in Indigo a Send PowerLinc Set Button Pressed button will appear so you can manually create the links with the IRLinc (Indigo does not currently read/write links to the IRLinc). You'll then be able to create Trigger Actions for the INSTEON group commands coming from the IRLinc.

Matt
