I3 Paddle On/Off vs. Dimming

Since the I3 Paddle is able to be configured as either an On/Off device or a dimmer Is it possible to identify which mode it's in so that Indigo shows it as the appropriate kind of device in the UI?

I'm waiting for Indigo to fully support this device plus the new i3 4 button keypad.

While on our feature request list, given the implementation complexity, it is unlikely Indigo will be able to dynamically reflect the mode (dimmer vs relay) for these devices. If having it show as a relay device is critical, then I believe you could create a Virtual Device that mirrors the on/off state of the actual Insteon device.

I can understand the complexity of it being 'automatic' and that it could be some work. In the mean time, how about just a simple option in the device settings that would let the user manually set it?

Even a manual setting would be complex given how the Insteon interface works (and how old it is). Again, creating a virtual on/off device would be a good way to do this.
