Indigo 2022.2 hung at startup when Insteon PLM was weird

I had a power blip today, just long enough to make every electronic device reboot.

I noticed Indigo misbehaving and restarted the whole computer. Indigo didn't quite come up - it seemed like it was rolling for a while, but it got to "Starting triggers and schedules" and then froze. This was when I looked around and noticed the LED on the Insteon PLM was red. As soon as I unplugged it, Indigo recovered, and then saw it for real when I plugged it back in, but that accounts for the ten-minute delay in the logs at startup:

Code: Select all
2023-03-06 17:23:29.336 Application     Starting triggers and schedules
2023-03-06 17:33:31.104 Power Failure   possible power failure
2023-03-06 17:33:31.109 Schedule        Christmas lights on at sunset
2023-03-06 17:33:31.110 Application     Indigo Cocoa client connected
2023-03-06 17:33:31.110 Interface Failure       failed to establish connection with serial interface PowerLinc Modem on port usbserial-AM00O29N

So something was pretty unhappy with being unable to talk to the PLM, in a way that blocked everything else.

Let us know if you see the problem again. Indigo tries to be resilient when there are hardware communication problems, but I have seen USB devices act up in a way that totally freezes (or crashes) things at the kernel/driver level such that Indigo also freezes. I'm not sure there is anything Indigo can do, but if the problem is repeatable somehow we can investigate it further.

Will do. Are there any good diagnostics I could gather? Force a crash dump or something?

When it was hung did you get the spinning beachball? If not, does any of Indigo's UI work?

And the next time it happens unplug just the USB cable to the PowerLinc, assuming last time you unplugged it from the wall. I'm curious if that gets it working or if it needs to totally lose AC power to unfreeze the Mac.
