Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

OK I don't have the exact model number but I have an insteon garage for opener/closer for about 6 years (which is probably part of the problem

It will open the door but won't close.

[Sent INSTEON "garage door" off
Sent INSTEON "garage door" status request (received input sensor: open)
Sent INSTEON "garage door" status request (received output relay: off)
Action Group Close Garag Door

I can repeat as often as Ii want with same results... Any thoughts beyond whipping out the charge card?

If you turn it off and it shows off and you turn it on and it shows on, then there may be something wrong with the wiring. I'd recheck the wires between the I/O Linc and the opener to make sure they are still intact. Also check the wires at the opener to make sure something hasn't worked loose or something.

Well 3rd I/O device the charm. I have never had much luck with them

It been a while since the original installation but I don't remember need a two step command to control the door

It isn't pretty but it works

Re: Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

You shouldn't need two steps. Did you configure the I/O Linc as specified in the first 3 steps of this how-to?

Re: Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

I'm confused – are you replacing an existing I/O-Linc with another one?
If you aren't, then what hardware did you use and are you using now?
If you are, then just wire it up exactly the same way the original was wired.

Make sure you follow Jay's instructions above and those 3 steps (including uploading the right settings to the I/O-Linc).

Re: Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

in my earlier posts you will se3 that the opening us not functioning as expected. The controller i bought quite a while back was based on a 2450. I have several of those from other controllers that i am not using as they were passed by newer systems. The link provided does not clearly show the wiring sequence. I want to verify that is is correct. I would tend to think the number on the 2540have some importance or they wouldn’t be there Agai. i am trouble shooting I have found that insteon devices have a limited life

Re: Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time understanding your post.

The wiring sequence shouldn't change when replacing an I/O-Linc.

What is the specific model number of both your old and new/current modules?

Re: Insteon Garage Door will open but not close

i am using an insteaon 2450. The contacts on those are numbered. the picture in your link on your attachment show sun numbered contact s. From the crude view provided on the link it also appears the wire from the contact switch on the bottom of the door all goes into one contact.
