Smart Glass installation using ApplianceLinc

I wanted to report that we successfully installed and added to our system a "Smart Glass" using an ApplianceLinc. Long story short, we were tired of the wooden blind banging on the glass and making noise every time the patio door was opened/closed, so we started researching about the new products (film or glass) that switch between clear and opaque and are being used in airplanes and cruises. This is one of the companies that makes them: https://www.smartglasscountry.com/

We decided to pull the trigger and installed some film on our door. Ordered a KeypadLinc and an ApplianceLinc to attach to the transformer and the results are great. I will try to post some pictures when there is daylight.

This is not the film solution you put into existing glass, but replace the glass?

I installed 2 large panes about 3 years ago and they work great. They’re located between the front door reception area and dining room. When someone drives through the driveway beam the glass goes clear for 5 or so seconds just enough for us to see who’s arriving and then back to opaque. Can be quite pricey but worth it as a nice “feature“. I paid ~€5k at the time.

This company has both. We used the film that goes over the glass.

Cool! Mine is just a door so the cost was a fraction of that. We added it to our schedules and also added a trigger so that when the alarm is disarmed it automatically goes clear if it is daylight.
