Insteon network failure -- PowerLink 2413U failure?

A couple weeks back my Insteon network failed -- sort of. Devices were still reporting status to Indigo but I could no longer issue commands to remote Insteon devices from Indigo. (I also have a LOT of Z-wave and it is working just fine. ) Sending commands from Indigo to an Insteon device always has the same result, "no ACK received." So it appeared that the 2413U was receiving but not transmitting. Things I then tried:

1. reset and resync the interface. No success.
2. factory reset the 2413U, reset, and resync. No success.
3. Call Smarthome, do everything they tell me (that I have already done), and get them to send me a new 2413U.
4, Install new 2413U, reset to factory defaults, and resync. No success.

OK, now I am at wits-end. Suggestions?

Signal noise likely. Try running a long outdoor extension cord from another room to your PLM and see if that helps. If so, then the noise might be on the same circuit as the PowerLinc. Check out the signal troubleshooting page for more tips on dealing with signal issues. Have you installed any new electronics? New bulbs (CFLs particularly but LEDs as well)? Anything at all change on your power line?
