Moved computer, can no longer connect to USB controller

We just finished the addition on our house and I moved my computer into my new office.

Upon bootup, I get the dreaded "port not found" error on my USB controller.

I tried running a 100' extension cable to where it was plugged in before and a new USB cable and neither has resolved the issue.

This seems to happen every time I move my computer, but usually resolves itself. Sadly, not this time.

This is what I see in my INSTEON PowerLinc configuration screen:Image

I've even unplugged all my other USB devices and only have my keyboard/mouse plugged in along with the USB controller and no dice.

I scoured the forum and have tried everything, including resetting the PowerLinc for the 20 seconds, but nothing's working.

Can someone suggest something else I can try? We're lost without our motion sensors and automated lights like it's 1920 over here!

Zap the PRAM.

Just a guess.

I think it’s because I’m plugged into a different USB port that isn’t mapped to the right serial port, but I can’t figure out a way to remap it to the right serial port.

I’m going to run out and get another USB cable, just in case the two I have mysteriously died during the move, but I’m not optimistic that’ll fix it.

Re: Moved computer, can no longer connect to USB controller

Kind of black magic, but I've found that when I reboot my server machine I need to unplug and re-plug the USB cord to get it connected. Doing that while Indigo Server is running results in an (almost) immediate connection. Happens on both the power link controller and my RFXcom receiver. The power link is plugged directly into my Mini, while the RFXcom is plugged into a hub. Go figure....

No dice.

It doesn't even see the USB connection anymore. It now only sees my laptop, my iPad, and my bluetooth headphones for some weird reason.

I think I've fallen victim to the "don't upgrade to High Sierra" issue. But I did that weeks ago and things were fine.

Now, suddenly, it doesn't work anymore, which is sad.

If there's no bugfix from Apple, what am I supposed to do?

Re: Moved computer, can no longer connect to USB controller

I've tried the same hardware and cables in 4 other computers and it doesn't work anywhere, including a laptop running Sierra.

So, it seems the 2413U died during the moving of my desk. I have another in a storage unit I'll pick up tomorrow and try.

If its the 2413, you might try a factory reset (the instructions are here somewhere) first.

Seems like a total coincidence that the hardware died while carrying it into my new office, but that's the case.

Got my backup out of storage today, plugged it in, synced right up and we're back in business now.

More likely the associated power-down and power-up.

Very likely.

Re: Moved computer, can no longer connect to USB controller

Some of my devices didn’t link to the new controller. Is there some way to force them to all relink in bulk?

If I can avoid going into each Device one at at time, I’d like to.

Are they battery powered? You have to manually wake those up for the sync to work.

Some hard wired devices didn’t auto link either. But mostly were motion sensors and mini scene remotes.
