[ANSWERED]: Insteon 2477SA2 30A Normally Closed Relay Switch

Moved from mis-posting in Archived area:

I use the 2477SA2 (normally closed) unit. I am having a strange issue, analogous to the message above. When I turn off the unit using Indigo at night, then a motion detector is causing Indigo to appear to turn the 2477SA on. Actually, it appears to signal that the load is on "button 2".
This is happening with motion detectors that apparently transmitting through one dual band switch.
Attempted remediation:
I have swapped both the 2477SA and several motion detectors to assure the latest firmware in each.
I have factory reset the 2477SA, the motion detectors and the switchlinc dimmer unit that routes the signal from the motion detector.
It does not occur when Indigo is offline and the 2413U is left online; nor does it occur when both Indigo and the 2413U are offline.

Here is an excerpt from the log file; the 2477SA is the "Water Heater":

2014-12-04 23:25:49.631Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" on (button 1)
2014-12-04 23:25:50.078Received INSTEON"Hall Closet Hot Water Heater" off (button 2)
2014-12-04 23:26:49.418Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" off (button 1)
2014-12-04 23:26:49.946Received INSTEON"Hall Closet Hot Water Heater" on (button 2)
2014-12-04 23:49:59.952Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" on (button 1)
2014-12-04 23:51:04.759Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" off (button 1)
2014-12-04 23:51:05.590Received INSTEON"Hall Closet Hot Water Heater" off (button 2)
2014-12-04 23:54:39.497Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" on (button 1)
2014-12-04 23:54:40.584Received INSTEON"Hall Closet Hot Water Heater" on (button 2)
2014-12-04 23:55:39.301Received INSTEON"MB Motion Sensor" off (button 1)

The 2477 is not going on and off; just messaging about the load going on and off.

Any ideas why the "button2" action and subsequent message is happening right after
a motion sensor message? Seems weird to me.

Any other tests/changes I might try?

Matt had mentioned improving the message handling in a 2010 blog entry. Any ideas to work around this?

I'm not understanding what you are describing.

Is the relay on the 2477SA turning ON/OFF? The Event Log is just showing that the 2477SA is broadcasting that the load state sensing is changing, which is different.

After you factory reset the 2477SA do the messages continue? Note do *not* re-define/sync it after the factory reset. Doing so will cause Indigo to re-write the links into the module that cause it to do the load state sensing broadcasting, which based on the reports on the forum doesn't work well with the 2477SA at all.

Re: [ANSWERED]: Insteon 2477SA2 30A Normally Closed Relay Sw

I have one of these and it's doing the on/off thing, apparently from Button 2 in Indigo. I followed these instructions:

Unlinking 240V Load Controller from an INSTEON Controller
If you are going to discontinue using 240V Load Controller, it is very important that you unlink it from any linked controllers. Otherwise, the controller will retry any commands repetitively, thus slowing down the system.
The following will work for the most common INSTEON devices:
1) Set the controller to unlinking mode. (For most controllers, press and hold an On or Scene button for
10 seconds twice or the Set button for 3 seconds twice.)
You will have 4 minutes to complete the next step before unlinking mode automatically times out.
2) Press and hold the Set button on 240V Load Controller until it double-beeps (3 seconds)
The 240V Load Controller Status LED will flash once and then turn on solid green if the load is on or solid red if it is off
3) Confirm that unlinking was successful by tapping the button you just unlinked from on the controller
240V Load Controller will no longer respond

from the online manual, but it did not solve the problem. Any other thoughts? Currently unusable.

Thanks,

Ham

Are there steps to completely factory reset the module in the manual? You might have better luck with that. Just make sure you do not re-sync it afterwards or Indigo will add back the links (which cause the 2477SA2 to behave badly).
