Indigo and ControLinc V2 (#2430)

I purchased 2 ControLinc tabletop controllers (#2430) to control a few INSTEON controlled lights. The INSTEON modules were already in Indigo so after adding them to the ControLinc I re-sync'd them in Indigo. Both ControLincs control the same 2 lights. The resync seemed to work and I can control them from both Indigo and the ControLinc however Indigo does not show the correct state.

2005-12-30 18:00:57 PowerLinc INSTEON dev link to controller 00.76.E6, flags A2, group 02, data FE FF 00

I am using Indigo version 1.8.0 beta 8. Is there a step I might be missing?

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Indigo and ControLinc V2 (#2430)

Hi Jim,

This should just work, and does with the current setup in my house. I wonder what is different about yours... I'd try re-syncing both the light modules again to see if that helps. Did you add devices to Indigo for the ControLincs? You have to do that as well, even though they are stateless (cannot be turned on/off).

Matt

Matt,

I did not know the ContrLinc had to be a device in the database. When I tried to add the ControlLinc I get:

PowerLinc Linking - sending ping request for device information
PowerLinc Linking - received ping response from 00.76.E6
PowerLinc Linking - no match found for device type ID 52216 with firmware version 2.20
Error linking failed

Hi Jim,

That device type ID doesn't look correct. When did you purchase the ControLinc V2? Does it consistently fail this way? And try plugging the ControLinc directly into the PowerLinc... if you still get the same error, then I'll add that ID to the Indigo's device table but that ID doesn't look like a valid one.

Matt

Matt,

I purchased the 2 ControLinc units from SMARTHOME last week. The same linking problem (different device type IDs however) happens with both of them.

I did notice that when I press buttons on the controller that Indigo 'sees' them:

2006-01-01 22:57:18 Received INSTEON 00.76.E6 on (button 1)
2006-01-01 22:57:25 Received INSTEON 00.76.E6 off (button 1)

2006-01-01 23:53:14 Received INSTEON 00.76.E6 off (button 1)

Plugging them in to the PowerLinc did not change anything.

Looks like this is an Indigo bug... should have a fix in a bit.

This is actually a bug in the internal application run on the PowerLinc V2. We'll get it fixed, but I need to talk to the Smarthome engineers about it. In the mean time, try pressing that Start button again. I was able to get it working after a few attempts. Note this problem only happens when Indigo is trying to query the device type out -- a couple of messages are coming into the PowerLinc V2 right after each other and a buffer is getting overwritten. Once you get it defined, it should work fine. Let me know how it goes, and I'll work on getting a real fix in...

Thanks Matt. After trying it 3 times (6 on the other unit) the linking worked although there was a different error. I included it below just in case it is not from the same bug. Also the original problem of Indigo not having the correct status is fixed. Thanks for all the help.

Jim
