Linking Fails

I'm trying to link Indigo (Powerlinc V2) with an Icon relay switch and I get this error.

PowerLinc Linking - device address 00.C8.65 already exists in PowerLinc's database
PowerLinc Linking - sending ping request for device information
PowerLinc Linking - received ping response from 00.C8.65
PowerLinc Linking - no match found for device type ID 523 with firmware version 6.00
Error linking failed

Any ideas?

Re: Linking Fails

Hi Kyle,

I'm in the process of adding the ICON switches to Indigo's internal device table so it can link with them correctly. Should have a new build tomorrow that will work.

Regards,
Matt

I figured it was something like that.

Thank you.

In situations like this, when Indigo doesn't know about a new device, it would be useful if a dialog popped up asking if you would like basic On/Off functionality for this device. Indigo seems to know the address and I'm only guessing that the On/Off commands are the same for most devices.

Of course it knows the address. I told it. Duh!

Matt,

Did you happen to get that new build done yet?

Worked fine. Thank you.

This, unfortunatly, is a different problem. My issue was just that Indigo did not have the new Icon switches in it's known devices table.

BTW, the Icon switches are great. They have the same look and feel as the regular SwichLincs.

Your Event Log is showing that the first link sync at 12:57 AM failed (no ping response), but that the second link sync succeeded at 1:02. Is your device 00.40.7F not working correctly?

Merry Christmas!

Yes, I noticed that too...but I still can not control it. If I try adding the device...I first get the "linking failed" error...then it says linking complete...but the device doesn't work?? I am trying to convert my house from X-10 to Insteon...I have been able to get switches to work but I have not been able to get control through Indigo. I am really excited/hopeful that I can get it to work soon. Thanks for your help!

What type of INSTEON device are you trying to control? If it is a LampLinc, then try plugging it directly into the PowerLinc. If it is a SwitchLinc, then do you have your SwitchLinc RFs correctly installed? They must be properly paired with each other and must be in outlets on the opposite power legs.

Let us know how it goes...

Hello-

I have:

-multiple SwitchLinc V2 Dimmers (2476D)
-multiple ICON devices
-PowerLinc V2 Controller - USB (2414U)
-4 SignalLinc RF (#2442P) located throughout the house and I followed the pairing instructions...all have solid lights now.
-I also have LampLinc...but have not tried to use those.

Thanks!

I'd start with a LampLinc plugged into the PowerLinc, since it will eliminate some possible problems. And are all of your devices failing to function correctly?

Your Event Log snippet above does seem a bit strange -- it says that it received a ping response, but then the next line says no ping response. I would expect either a ping response message or no ping response message, not both.

I tried the LampLinc plugged into the PowerLinc and got the same failure error. I used the 6-digit code off the back of the LampLinc and input that into a new device of the Indigo software?? Can you give me the recommended steps from the beginning. Keep in mind I already have 20+ Inteon V2 and ICON switches installed. 3-way Inteon switches are paired with each other and switches work fine. thx
