Does new Zooz ZEN51 with LR designation affect INDIGO

I noticed a sale on Zooz ZEN51-LR relays but wanted to find out if the ZWAVE LR (Long Range) update to the device affects or breaks the existing indigo integration with the new ZEN51 LR, in other words, will the new ZEN51 LR work but just not support LR.

Support for the original ZEN51 within INDIGO was added in release 2022.2 but INDIGO documentation does not mention the LR designation.

I’m trying to come up to speed on the new ZWAVE LR capability but the sale will likely end before I can fully understand the ramifications that the LR could have.

From what I have read ZWAVE and ZWAVE LR work across the same network and in order for LR to work both the device and the ZWAVE hub must be updated for LR. I know the INDIGO hub does not support LR (at least I think it doesn’t) but I wanted to check in to see if the LR update to the ZEN51 breaks any functionality with INDIGO as it stands now.

ZWAVE LR seems to be a huge update —from max node count (updated to 4000 vice 232 for original ZWAVE) and the range for a working LR network is a mile.

If anyone knows of any issues please let me know and if there is a section on this forum for ZWAVE LR please let me know so I can come up to speed.

Thanks in advance…

Re: Does new Zooz ZEN51 with LR designation affect INDIGO

The LR modules are all supposed to be backwards compatible with the legacy Z-Wave network, so in theory the new ZEN51-LR should work with Indigo. That said, we won't know for sure until someone tries it and we haven't had any reports yet that is the case.

You are correct that Indigo doesn't support the LR protocol. Adding support for it is a large feature since it requires S2 encryption support.

Thanks - I did order a few so I will post once I hook one up - either, if it works OK or if it does not — so others will know….

and not that this is the same device, but I added a ZEN76 800LR a few weeks ago and it went smoothly.

Thanks - I hope it will be the same case for the ZEN51 - I have my fingers crossed…

Got my shipment from The smartest house but they sent me the wrong devices so I doubt I will be installing these in case anyone was waiting to see how it works with Indigo….

I installed the ZEN52, which is the two relay version, and it works fine with Indigo.

Excellent, thanks for the report.

Does it identify itself as a ZEN51? Just want to confirm that.

Ok, so to clarify, the ZEN52LR is the actual model you tried and it works correctly (including controlling each contact individually)?

While it's not definitive proof that the ZEN51LR works, it's about as close as you can get!

Re: Does new Zooz ZEN51 with LR designation affect INDIGO

I ended up installing ZEN 71 on/off switches (which had LR designations) and they work from within Indigo - no problems.
