NEO Smart Plug

Hi all,

I want to buy a smart plug that will allow me to monitor a sump pump to know when it turns on. This looks great on Amazon, but I cannot tell if Indigo supports it, and if so, what features are supported. Can I send myself an email any time the amperage increases over a threshold?

Thanks!

Re: NEO Smart Plug

Not sure. That device is actually manufactured by a Chinese company and several vendors offer it. I have a slightly older version (same dimensions) and it does show energy information, so it seems likely this one would work as well. If it doesn't, we can add a definition for it pretty quickly I'd expect.

Re: NEO Smart Plug

Never mind, it is supported, just look at the plugin module section for appliance devices: https://www.indigodomo.com/devices/category/23/

You can filter by manufacturer using the popup on the top left so it's easier to see.

Re: NEO Smart Plug

Thank you Jay. I actually had looked at the compatibility list first but totally missed it!

Re: NEO Smart Plug

I purchased the Neo, but am having trouble configuring it as I was hoping. My goal is to know whenever the sump pump connected to the Neo turns on. I have set it to update every second, but it isn't sending emails, and nothing is in the log. Would appreciate any pointers!

Re: NEO Smart Plug

I have a Trigger with an Action to send an email when the device state changes to current power becomes greater than 0 and another for when the Energy Usage has any change. Tomorrow I'll double-check everything (again) and make sure I didn't miss anything.

Thanks Jay.

Re: NEO Smart Plug

OK, so I finally had some time to futz around on this, and the other day the plug sent me about 10 emails for the start/stop of 5 pump turn-on/off events that are Triggered by Current Power going over 0, so the email part seems to work. However, the device details still show 0 Watts used, ever, and the Action I have that is supposed to Trigger when Energy Usage increases does not occur.

I upgraded to 2023.1 today (and in a 'glutten-for-punishment' mode am also doing Sonoma on the server) and after all that settles I'm going to sit in the basement with a bucket of water and force the thing to engage and get more data to share.
