Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indigo

The ZEN71 isn't on Indigo's list of supported devices but Indigo can control and track it's On/Off status.

Thought I could report this device via the Indigo app, but couldn't find it.

Here's the log report on the device:

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

Thanks, we'll get that definition corrected so it shows in Indigo as an on/off relay and not a dimmer.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

Hi Matt,

In Indigo 2022.1 (and likely prior versions), the ZEN71 is incorrectly identified by Indigo as ZEN72.

In the attached screenshot, Z-Wave address numbers 2 and 4 are actually ZEN71's not ZEN72's.

**As a side note to anyone who plans to update their Zooz firmware (windows only), double check the model number on the device before updating. Zooz supported confirmed that I bricked the two devices( shown as ZEN72 in the screenshot) by applying the ZEN72 firmware, because they are actually ZEN71's.

Sorry, this one slipped through the cracks, but I've now added the definition for the ZEN71 so it will be in 2022.1.1.

Indigo 2022.1.1 is now available and should fix this Z-Wave bug.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

any chance the change for the ZEN71 broke support for the ZEN72? Trying to add a new ZEN72 this evening and it is coming up as unknown...

It also has some really nasty side effects added as a generic module. If you try to issue on On command to it from Indigo - hangs the Z-Wave interface and requires restarting the interface... Seem to report status OK (and it responded fine to an Off command initially), but I'm excluding it as I can't have the interface Z-wave restarting and taking every other device on my Z-wave network down with it.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

It is possible. I'm afraid Zooz might have used the same internal model ID for both of them, which would be most unfortunate. Can you re-sync your ZEN72 and copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me? Also, if you happen to have a ZEN71, then re-sync and paste the results of that one as well.

And that said, the behavior you are describing sounds more like a Z-Wave network (interference or range) issue.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

If they used the same model ID, wouldn't it have come up as a ZEN71 vs. unknown?

Here's the log:

Indigo Z-Wave Version: 2022.2.1
Node ID: 15
Model: Dimmable Power Switch
Model ID: 7000A002
Manufacturer: Zooz
Manufacturer ID: 027A
Protocol Version: 7.13
Application Version: 10.00
Model Definition Version: 0
Library Type: 3
Class Name: Dimmable Power Switch
Class Hierarchy: 04 : 11 : 01
Command Class Base: 26
Command Versions: 20v1 26v4 27v1 5Ev1 70v1 5Bv1 85v1 8Ev1 59v1 55v1 86v1 72v1 5Av1 87v1 73v1 9Fv1 6Cv1 7Av1
Encryption Status: Not Supported
Multi-Endpoint Types: - none -
Multi-Endpoint Classes: - none -
Multi-Instance Counts: - none -
Features: routing, beaming
Neighbors: 4, 5, 7, 16
Associations: 1:[1] 2:[] 3:[]
Config Values: - none -

Note that I also submitted it as an unknown module through the workflow/link within Indigo.

When this switch is associated with the Zwave interface it seems to cause the interface to hang. Not sure if it's a bad switch, or something else is at play, but that is he behavior I'm observed thus far.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

I see ZEN72's as "Dimmable Power Switch" in Indigo's Model column. See screenshot.

Zen71's show as "Relay Switch (ZEN71)" in the column.

Hope this is helpful.

FYI - I updated the ZEN72 to the latest firmware 10.10,. That was an adventure unto itself, but in the process it seems that the issue with it hanging my z-wave setup has disappeared (and it's a bit frustrating to not know with certainty the cause).

The ZEN72 shows up as an unknown device as far as Indigo is concerned when re-added. Here's the Indigo log data for the switch post update:

Indigo Z-Wave Version: 2022.2.1
Node ID: 18
Model: Dimmable Power Switch

Does Indigo key off the "Model ID" only for identification, or some combination of data fields?

Okay, good it does use a different model ID than the ZEN72. The next version of Indigo will map this model ID to our ZEN72 device definition, which will show the scene Triggers and device settings UI for the ZEN72.

Re: Zooz ZEN71 On/Off relay reported as ZEN72 Dimmer in Indi

Thanks Matt!

Just a heads up that the new firmware for the ZEN72 changes some of the parameter behaviors as detailed here:

https://www.support.getzooz.com/kb/article/849-zen72-700-series-dimmer-change-log/

The new 2.0 ZEN72s are also supposed to ship with the same firmware, as detailed here, as well as some seeming hardware hardening (I was told by Zooz support recently that these are not yet shipping)::

https://www.support.getzooz.com/kb/article/538-zen72-dimmer-switch-700-advanced-settings/

Thanks Matt. Indigo 2022.1.2 did indeed resolve the challenges I was experiencing. The log entries on startup post upgrade indicated the devices need to be resync'd guided the way.
