Fortrezz Flow Meter Stopped Working On Upgrade to 2021.1

I noticed today that my Fortrezz flow meter has stopped reporting meter activity recently. I upgraded to 2021.1 in the last few days and I am guessing it is related to that, but I don't know for sure that it was operational in the week or so before that upgrade.

Turning on ZWave debugging I see the following reports showing that the device is indeed reporting meter changes:

Code: Select all
  Z-Wave Debug                    RCVD requestMeterLevel: 01 14 00 04 00 10 0E 32 02 23 34 00 00 00 F5 00 3C 00 00 00 F5 EA

But per the attached image the actual device is not updating the device state value. (The very big value in that image was probably the value being reported before the failure, reflecting several years of water usage. As part of troubleshooting I power cycled the Fortrezz device which caused it to reset to 0. The values above while running one of my sprinkler loops.

Also interesting to note is that the above notifications did not cause "Last Update" to update. (Per the timestamps in the notifications vs the device state in the UI.)

Any advice on further troubleshooting or fixes?

Thanks,
Don

Re: Fortrezz Flow Meter Stopped Working Recently.

Once I figured out where the old logs were, went back and it appears that the failure did just start right after the upgrade to 2021.1.

Hi Don,

Based on the debug logging you posted it looks like the module is sending good commands/values to Indigo, so I suspect the value not getting routed to your Indigo device is a bug. I'm away from my development Mac for a bit, but I'll look into this when I can and post a follow-up in a few days.

Re: Fortrezz Flow Meter Stopped Working On Upgrade to 2021.1

I'm trying to track down what is going wrong here, but am not seeing anything obvious. Since I don't have one of these to test against, can you please re-sync it in Indigo then copy/paste the Event Log window results after the sync into reply for me.

Also make sure the re-sync doesn't fix the issue. It probably won't, but is worth checking.

Thanks for looking at this. Will try a re-sync in a bit.

Output from Define and Sync on existing device. I did not turn ZWave debug back on. Can rerun if you need that level of log. As you expected, no change to device behavior after doing that.

Code: Select all
Z-Wave                          Syncing - started for "Water Meter"
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved module neighbors list: 15
Z-Wave                          Syncing - assigning return route to "016 - Water Meter"
Z-Wave                          Syncing - assigned return route
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved manufacture and model names: FortrezZ - 0084, Flow Meter (FMI) - 04730110
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved protocol version 4.05, app version 1.16
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved class hierarchy: Routing Slave : Multilevel Sensor : Multilevel Sensor (routing) (04 : 21 : 01, base 31)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved command classes: 20v1 80v1 85v1 86v1 71v1 72v1 70v1 31v8 32v2 73v1 59v1 5Av1 7Av1 5Ev1
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved encrypt commands: - none -
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved capabilities: routing, battery, beaming
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 1 associations: [1]
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 2 associations: []
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 3 associations: []
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved group 4 associations: []
Z-Wave                          Syncing - group 1 association to interface already exists (skipping)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved parameter 3 "Accumulated meter value" is 156364 * 0.1 gallons
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - device "016 - Water Meter" parameter 3 "Accumulated meter value" changed to 0 * 0.1 gallons (was 156364 * 0.1 gallons)
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved parameter 4 "Reporting interval" is 6 * 10 seconds
Z-Wave                          Syncing - retrieved battery level of 100%
   Z-Wave                          Syncing - complete
Z-Wave                          sent "Water Meter" status request
Z-Wave                          received "016 - Water Meter" status update battery level 100%
Z-Wave                          sent "Water Meter Temperature" status request
Z-Wave                          received "Water Meter Temperature" sensor update to 18 °C

Great news. Will give it a test this weekend when I am at house with affected device.
