MonoPrice Z-Wave RGBW Dimmer Controler - Raw Commands

Howdy All,

I have recently purchased this Z-Wave RGBW controller to test. It is not yet supported by Indigo.

Inclusion was straight forward and the device shows up as a "Dimmable Power Switch."
I can turn it on and off and dim it but I have no control over color.

After looking over the documents I figured out how to run the few scenes which are stored in the device using Indigo's "Modify Configuration Parameters" command - works fine.

My question is general in nature. How do we find other Z-Wave commands/parameters for any given device (not just this one) and how do we enter them into Indigo? Or put another way, how do we find and use raw Z-Wave commands for device x?

We received your device report submission from Indigo on this one – thanks for sending that. This one was actually on my list to get added soon to Indigo. Hopefully it will make it into the next version.

First you can modify the configuration parameter shown in the user manual using the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Modify Configuration Parameter... menu item, which you've already discovered. But that only controls configuration parameters and not general commands the module might support.

When Indigo syncs with a device it will log to the Event Window the hex command numbers that the module claims to support. For this module that is:

20v1 73v1 85v1 26v2 27v1 70v1 72v1 33v2 86v1 59v1 7Av1 5Av1 5Ev1 25v1

In this case the command you are interested in the 33 command class shown above (the v2 means version 2), which is the COMMAND_CLASS_COLOR. Sending raw commands to control RGB modules came up just the other day and Peter posted some examples that will probably get you started. You can just copy those into Indigo's Send Raw Z-Wave Command action UI.

Indigo 7.5 is now available and includes support for the Monoprice RGBW Dimmer Controller (36511), including UI device settings for most of the config parameters.
