ZOOZ RGBW Dimmer Zen31... working-ish

Not sure if my "Submit to Indigo" button / form did anything, so I'll post here too....

Got a RGBW Dimmer Zen31 by ZOOZ.
($33 on Amazon)https://www.amazon.com/Z-Wave-Dimmer-Strips-Lighting-Required/dp/B081VYNF27

I can make it work... but it's goofy.
It installs as 9 different devices.
1) Multilevel Switch 1 (On/Off Brightness)
2) Multilevel Switch 2 (Red)
3) Multilevel Switch 3 (Blue)
4) Multilevel Switch 4 (Green)
5) Multilevel Switch 5 (White)

Those 5 show up as dimable lightbulbs. By adjusting the brightness, you are adjusting the level of Red, Green or Blue to make whatever color you want.

The device has 4 inputs for 4 separate physical switches. Switch is activated by grounding out the terminal.
Those are represented by 4 Multilevel SensorsWhen turning on (grounding) then off each switch, nothing happens to the device state (that I can see), but I get this in the event log:
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 513 (0201)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 257 (0101)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 514 (0202)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 258 (0102)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 515 (0203)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 259 (0103)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 516 (0204)
Z-Wave received "018 - Mulitlevel Switch" scene 260 (0104)

So I guess I could write triggers based on those received Z-Wave commands.

From the device log:

On top of the above, it's a little finicky. Like when you change one of the color values (Device 2, 3 or 4), you have to then turn the first device off then on for it to take.... sometimes.

The next release of Indigo (7.4.1; not available yet but soonish) will have better support for this one.

*thumbsup* I have one of these arriving soon, so that's great news. More surely to follow if it works well. Though I also have my eye on the Shelly controllers. ;)

I tinkered with this device again today.... tried to delete it then re-add it. But it still operates the way it was before. Did support for the device change in the last Indigo update? Did I re-add it incorrectly? Just checking.

Respectfully,

Copy/paste the Event Log results of the re-sync into a reply for me. And how is it behaving now? Any differently?

That's what it looks like if I re-define and sync the device. Operationally, it is about the same as before. 5 switches and 4 sensors. The sensors still don't turn on or off, but they provide a status change in the log file if you ground out a sensor. You can toggle switches 1-5 in various ways to adjust the color. Purple = (Switch 1 @ 100%, Switch 2 @ 100% (red), Switch 3 @ 100% (blue)).

After Indigo update: I think it's responding quicker after the update. Before, I think I had to adjust the colors, then switch the first switch off then back on for it to physically adjust. Now it adjusts as I toggle switches or adjust percentages of a switch.

Sorry, it looks like this one fell through the cracks and didn't make it into 7.4.1. I'll make sure it gets into 7.4.2.

Thank you Matt! Works great and now I'm going to make my house crazy colorful. If I can figure out how to tie in the Airfoil plugin, I can open up Bill's Discoteca.

After updating to Indigo 7.5, it still installs as 9 different devices, but there is some coolness with that.
1 ) Main device controls everything (on, off, color, etc.)
2 ) White - Currently set at 0, hidden from remote display and put in a separate folder. (May change if I use a RGBW strand vs. an RGB strand... but it's what I have on hand at the moment.
3 ) Red - Set at 100, hidden from remote, put in a separate folder.
4 ) Green - Set at 100, hidden, separate folder.
5 ) Blue - Set at 100, hidden, separate folder.
    6 ) Analog Input 1 (Button 1)*
    7 ) Analog Input 2 (Button 2)*
    8 ) Analog Input 3 (Button 3)*
    9 ) Analog Input 4 (Button 4)*

* Note on the Analog inputs.... pretty cool stuff. Each input has multiple responses? or scene options?, button settings?... not sure what word to use.
    Pressed
    Held-Release
    Double-Tap
3 button options x 4 buttons = 12 scene options.

With all these options my head is exploding. Do I just use the RGBW part to make my house pretty :D , or do I take advantage of all the wire-inputs to make some kind of 1980's mushroom button control panel thing that makes it look like I have nuclear launch abilities from my desk.

Re: ZOOZ RGBW Dimmer Zen31... working-ish

I'm getting ready to roll a couple of these out and I wanted to confirm what I'm seeing.

I'm using this device (x2) in order to control a single color white strips using just the W terminal. I'm finding that, In order to control turn the strip on, I need to have both the "composite" and "white" devices turned on for there to be light. I can then control the strip simply with the composite device.

Is it safe to leave the white device turned on 24/7 and just ignore it? It doesn't report any energy usage in this state.

I came here to drink milk and kick ass....and I've just finished my milk.

Based on the date of my last post.... I've been running my lights this way for 2 years now without issue. Mine is just the opposite, I turn all the colors on, the white off and just use the composite to control the strip. Leaving all the others Red, Green and Blue set at 100% for the last 2 years, no problems. My 2nd set (which I put in about a month after my last post), I leave B and W at 100% all the time to give the RGBW strip a bluish white glow and just use the composite for on/off. Same thing with that one, no issues leaving the B and W at 100%.

Hope that helps.

Re: ZOOZ RGBW Dimmer Zen31... working-ish

One thing I've noticed about the Zooz units is that -- after a round of disconnecting/reconnecting the LED strips and restoring power -- I find I have to re-sync them in Indigo to get them to work. I'm curious to see how they recover after a power outage which, sadly, we are all too familiar with around these parts.
