Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Hey Matt,
hey Jay,

could you please add the device information for this new device ?

What it does...
* Can add it to my zwave network
* Device appears in indigo with on/off capabilities
* Led from the device is dark if switch is turned off
* When switch is turned on in indigo, led becomes green, but there is no power on the connected device ?!?!?!
* Switch off, led becomes dark again.
* Got three of them, all the same behaviour....

Thx
Dirk from Germany

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Can you manually operate the switch (I don't know if it has an on/off button on the physical device) and if so does that cause the connected device to turn on/off?

Hi Jay,

yes, i can operate the switch manualy. The LED on the top is also a manual switch which turns on the connected device.

Do you need any futher info´s?

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Hi Dirk,

Can you turn on Indigo's Z-Wave debug logging checkbox (via the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Configure... menu item), then use Indigo's UI to turn it ON and OFF a couple of times? Copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply for me.

Also, does Indigo show it in its UI the ZW175 as a switch (relay; ON and OFF only) or a dimmer (with brightness)?

Lastly, try the Interfaces->Z-Wave->Send Raw Z-Wave Command... menu item to send the following commands individually (first is ON, second is OFF):

Code: Select all
0x25 0x01 0xFF

Code: Select all
0x25 0x01 0x00

Does that work?

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Hi Jay,

thanks for your reply.

Easy things first:

Indigo shows the powerwall as an on off switch. The device details are update correct, espacialy the on state. If i switch it manualy on or if use the buttons in indigo: i can switch it on and off. But there is only power if i do this manualy using the ledswitch on the device.

Second: RAW commands
If i toggle on/off using buttons in indigo the led on the device will switch its state from on to off and reverse. But no power.
If i use your RAW commands, the led will shut down, but i can toggle the real power on and off. YEAH! :D
For me it seems like two devices or switches. One for the led an a different for power.

And here the debugging log:

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Hi Dirk,

We are looking at adding a device definition for it that will show 2 devices (LED and load).

In the mean time you can send the raw commands to control the load. You can also create a pair of Action Groups (one for each raw command) then define a Virtual Device in Indigo that executes the action groups when the virtual device is Turned On/Off (in the UI, Indigo Touch, by other actions, etc.).

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Ok.

I took me a while to find out, how to send these RAW commands correctly. Here is how it works...

Code: Select all
cmdString = [0x25, 0x01, 0xFF]
indigo.zwave.sendRaw(device=indigo.devices[193818484], cmdBytes=cmdString, sendMode=1, waitUntilAck=False)

Thx again, i´m waiting for the next update. If i can do some testing for you...

Frohes Weihnachtsfest !
Gruß
Dirk

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

There is an action with UI (on the actions panel) to send raw commands as well using the Type Z-Wave Actions->Send Raw Z-Wave Command.

Indigo 7.4.1 is now available and includes support for the Aeotec Radiator Thermostat (ZWA021), Range Extender 7 / Repeater (ZW189), Recessed Door Sensor 7 (ZW187), Smart Switch (ZW175).

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

The manual of the Aeotec Smart Switch 7 says about the LED:
(https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/so ... ser-guide-)

Parameter 81 - LED indicator mode:

0. LED Disabled.
1. Night Light Mode.
2. On/Off Mode.
ON = 50% white light
OFF = 10% green light

So, there is no Off mode without LED/light?

And further on the manual says about the LED:

Brightness can be controlled via Multilevel Switch CC.
Colour can be controlled via Color Switch CC.

Does anyone know what "Multilevel Switch CC" and "Color Switch CC" means here?

I don't know the exact behavior. You'll have to just experiment with it.

Yes, when syncing that device Indigo should create 2 devices: one that controls the main load, and another "Nightlight" dimmable device for the LED indicator. You can try the dimming slider in the Main Window when that is selected to see if you can adjust the brightness. There should also be a color swatch you can select to change the color. Indigo uses the Color Switch CC commands for sending those color values to the module.

Re: Aeotec (Aeon Labs) Smart Switch 7 (ZW175)

Wow, thank you so much for the fast reply Matt. Super!

There is no dimmer slider for the Main switch. But..
With the settings of the LED mode to "Mirrors Load", the other "Nightlight" dimmable device has indeed the possibility to change the brightness and the color of the LED.
Once this is done, these settings also effect at the main device and now the LED goes off and becomes red (or green, or yellow) when it's on. Very nice feature.

Thanks again for the fast support!
