Aeon Z-stick Gen5 skipped Node ID assignments.

All of a sudden on a new include it went from assigning ID 81 to 228 as next ID.
Not a biggy until I discovered I have a max of 232 (instead of 256). I'm now at that ID.
Will unused ID's eventually be used on future includes?

Also... does a re-sync on device rediscover neighbors? Mine doesn't seem to and I now have a few powered devices reporting unreachable.
Did I miss in my searches how to force a rediscover of neighbors?
Edit... found it under optimize network. Duh.

Running 7.4 on a Mac Mini 10.12.6

Wondering if my stick is failing. Since I have some 100+ Zwave devices, including some locks I'm not looking forward to loading a new stick.

It is suspicious the module skipped from 81 to 228 – it might be malfunctioning. If there are unused node IDs it will wrap-around or reuse those though, so the fact that you are getting close to 232 in itself isn't a big concern.

Re-syncing does attempt to rediscover neighbors.

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5 skipped Node ID assignments.

Thanks Matt.

I've been trying to resync a couple of devices that used to work and also added a device in-between.

Still no joy and in addition the 'stick' seems to disconnect. Have to unplug the stick and then it's ok until I try another a few resyncs or optimize for the single device.

From log:
Z-Wave Error send getVersion failed after 9 attempts
Z-Wave Error restarting serial connection in 5.0 seconds
Interface Failure lost connection with interface

In the process of moving to another mini, just in case USB port is problem.
I'll then exclude/include the devices giving me trouble to see if ID's will get reused.

Re: Aeon Z-stick Gen5 skipped Node ID assignments.

Was there any further news on this. Sorry it's a long time ago but I've just experienced exactly the same thing. New devices not getting the next ID number and then now the controller periodically drops out with the same message on log event:

Z-Wave Error send getVersion failed after 9 attempts
Z-Wave Error restarting serial connection in 5.0 seconds
Interface Failure lost connection with interface

The operation of my house has basically fallen apart as the chance of a scheduled event occurring or actioning from the app has become random.

It looks to me like a controller failure which is a Z-Stick.

Will I really have to manually re include every single device if I install a new controller?

Yes, exclude then include. It's best to do them one at a time to make sure you get the right stick to Indigo device mapping.
