Is there a Z-Wave keypad that is a good replacement for the Insteon Keypadlinc?

Please let us know if you can control the indicator lights separately.

Re: Z-Wave keypad

Well the little remote works great! One annoying problem is there's no way to turn the thing off. I printed out some labels for it and had to disable it in Indigo and it just kept beeping at me as I was applying the labels. It actually looks bad with labels on it but it needs to be indicated somehow what button does what. As far as controlling the indicator lights separately I'm not real sure what that means. There's only one light and it forms a cross in the middle of the touch panels. There is an option in the setup for "Touch LED Color" but it is not enabled. I guess that's a programming thing with Indigo?

Re: Z-Wave keypad

The Touch LED Color config UI should be enabled, but if during sync Indigo isn't able to read out the parameter value it disables it. Try re-syncing it in Indigo again to see if it enables it. If it doesn't then copy/paste the Event Log results of the sync into a reply for me.

Re: Z-Wave keypad

I have one of the remotec devices and it works well.

But for a high-end result, the reality is its not that pretty (or at best won't match the rest of a house's switchgear).

My work-around to date has been to commandeer the switch-2 input of Fibaro dimmers, and even to use both S1 and S2 inputs where unavoidable without a physically switched light load (it needs a bypass as dummy load however). With scenes multiple actions an be attached to a single switch however in the objective is general usability in my experience this usually is not going to user friendly.

The S2 switches are often effectively 'free' but of course are randomly distributed across a house, but using dedicated dimmers is a very expensive (and high voltage!) approach. I'm currently contemplating how to implement a scenario such as you've described (several switches in a panel for scenes, remote control of outdoor lights, master switches etc). I'm contemplating either the 8 channel relay (for which there's a great plugin); or Global Cache flex device. The Flex integration with Indigo is fast in response (using UDP), but has only 4 inputs whereas the 8-channel relay needs to be polled every few seconds (but with 8 I/O pairs is amazingly cheap!).
