It's recognized by Indigo as a "Notification Sensor", what's that?

Look at the attachment in your first post and you'll see the answer...

The attachment in the first post says:
Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7
And not some vague "Notification Sensor"

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

Jay was referring to this line in the PDF:

Specific Device Class: SPECIFIC_TYPE_NOTIFICATION_SENSOR

It is the device class the sensor uses to identify itself. If Indigo doesn't have a device definition then it uses, as the model name, whatever device class the device reports itself as.

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

Thanks for the clear explanation Matt :)

Strange that the older/other Aeotec door /window Sensors are recognized by Indigo as a normal door/window sensor and this new one not.
Have they changed their firmware totally?

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

We have device definitions (we wrote) for the older ones. The newer one will have for the next feature release of Indigo.

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

For those who are interested:

It’s working with the Match Raw Packet Z-Wave trigger:

Closed:
0x01 0x0F 0x00 0x04 0x00 0x7A 0x09 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x06 0x17 0x00 0x1D

Open:
0x01 0x0F 0x00 0x04 0x00 0x7A 0x09 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x06 0x16 0x00 0x1C

With the modification of the device parameter 1 to 1 (standard 0), the external dry contacts 3 and 4 could be use for an additional large (outdoor) magnetic contact (standard magnet is then disabled).
(The above raw packets codes are reversed in that mode)

Good to hear. Match Raw Packet is the way to go until a device definition is added to Indigo.

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

Great idea! But ... The raw packet will vary depending on your node ID, so putting that in as a fixed string copy-and-paste isn't going to work for everyone. A substring like:

OPEN: * 0x09 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x06 0x16 0x00 ?
CLOSE: * 0x09 0x71 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0xFF 0x06 0x17 0x00 ?

will skip the packet header and the checksum and might be more "generic" for someone looking for a fast solution.

I suggest that the Indigo "show last packet" tool in the Raw packet event entry should be used to verify the events for your own system.

Hopefully, Indigo will release an update with support for the Window Sensor 7 soon and this whole threat can be marked as "solved!"

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

Having a problem with this device. I am using 2021.1.1. I am using Any Command to trigger a toggle of a light. It works but in the middle of the night when the device reports its battery level, the light goes on. I would like to change the toggle to two separate triggers for on and off. However, the choices the device shows me in Indigo refer to button 1. There is no button.

Re: Aeotec Door Window Sensor 7 (ZWA008)

Those options (Button 1 Pressed, etc.) are what you see when selecting a ZWA008? If so, re-sync the ZWA008 you have and copy/paste the Event Log results into a reply. Note you'll have to wake it up before you start the sync.
