Do encrypted z-wave devices communicate with unencrypted?
Do something like encrypted locks communicate through the Z-Wave network through other devices, or do they need to talk directly to the "hub"?

They work through repeaters once synced.

It's only the payload that's encrypted, not the routing information needed to deliver the message to the right node.
